It sounds nothing like a Blast! track to me. That song perfectly embodies the direction SCP is headed in, especially their female productions - generic, sappy and washed down. Of course that's just my opinion, but most people agree SCP have been performing under par lately. Besides, the booklet says Castagna was the sole producer of "Nothing About Me Baby", and the writers were Codenotti and Somenzi, typically.taQ wrote:I kinda feel like the Irene song is a left over Romi song, the synths actually sound more Blast than SCP to me, although theyre kinda interchangable to begin with.
Whenever somebody mentions anything negative about A-Beat C, you blow up in a frenzy. ALL THE TIME. Take a chill pill, it's just his opinion.zoupzuop2 wrote:Yes, because CLEARLY there's no way in HELL that GGM has had some good tunes with him (y'know, like Rock Me or Back to 80's); it's all about ABeatC's handling of him that matters. Clearly, he should just quit the Eurobeat scene; he's lost his way over the last... what, 3 albums? That's WAAAAY too much. He's past his prime.
</sarcasm>
Had you dropped the segment in Italics, I'd have not minded.
What's up with the "disposable artists/labels" philosophy I've seen so damn much lately? Just because an artist or label is in a slump, they are of no use to us; therefore they should quit? Fuck that. This attitude makes me sick to be a Eurobeat fan, that I'd be associated with that mentality. These artists have been involved for nearly 20 years; NO KIDDING that they'd lose SOME of their quality over that time!
Call a bad song for what it is; a bad song. Call a bad streak for what it is; a bad streak. Just don't be so ignorant to suggest that, just because of a few bad songs, an artist should LEAVE the scene.
I'd rant further, but I'd rather restrain myself; I've already gone, possibly, too far.
Besides, you needn't worry. If you check A-Beat C's ASCAP profile, you'll see almost 1/3 of the productions are Mega NRG Man. He isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Even if Marin leaves the eurobeat scene right now, his tracks will still be appearing on SEB for the next 3-4 years (granted the series lasts that much longer).
Actually, I had a similar rant when someone knocked Lobotronic Hammer, HRG's Trance attempts. Don't worry, I'm equal-opportunity ranter.Jay wrote:Whenever somebody mentions anything negative about A-Beat C, you blow up in a frenzy. ALL THE TIME. And, there's a difference between... gah. I know there's some strong opinions around these boards, but... it does sort of bug me, that the people being knocked on can (and in some cases, HAVE) posted on these boards. Who knows if Mr. Marin does? We're not SURE, that's the thing. (Could you imagine what Dave would think or say if he were unfortunate enough to visit?)
It's also more of the attitude it seems to exude, usually. It tends to follow the lines of "This hasn't been as good as it once was; therefore it should pack up and leave forever, now". I may be misreading (and if I am, I do apologize; I've just had a few raw nerves on that attitude off the boards as well lately), but it bugs me.
And, yeah, I'm a bit of an ABeatC fanboy, even if they've dropped quality a bit lately. I suppose I feel someone should defend them in some cases, simply because we fans have a good bit of power, granted that much of the more traditional fandom is falling; as such, what we say may carry more sway. I also think that sometimes when one knocks ABeat, they don't consider all the factors (Age of the vocalists and the effects of 20 years of singing, staff shifts, the fact that people put thought and invest emotions--we hope-- into some of these songs... for instance, how old is Norma now? Or Tomas? Or Dave? And how many years-- STRAIGHT, with no known breaks-- has the ABeatC team, pre OR post GGM, been producing music, only recently failing to deliver constant success?) that go into why-- just why-- there may be other factors into why these songs have been less than great. (Granted, there were some real stinkers, I must be blunt in my agreement on that; but there were some good ones too. Hell, I even liked California Dreamin'. Dunno why. Just do. 0_o)
Nevertheless, sorry for the freakout, Lebon, but... I encourage you to consider the sheer weight of what you type sometimes.
A lot's changed in the decade and a half I've been here.

Whenever I read all your opinions on Eurobeat producers, Someone allways has to mention thier age or that they are past thier prime. I don't think age has any merrit on wether or not a producer can make good Eurobeat. I do agree that the absence or migration of certain producers can affect their current writing style, but to say that beacuse a certain producer was there was the only reason they sounded good is totally riduculous. What I did like is that all the AbeatC songs on this cd actually were co produced by the vocalist too.The AbeatC Team effort is why they sounded great.
Francessca for Do You Really Wanna Love Me
Thomas for Up & Down...

Sorry, but I'm completely lost at all the pirate and wolf comments after DJ Mike TJG answered my question.

Latvia's entry in this year's Eurovision. Almost as good as last year's entry from the UK.

Thanks. Now I see the light.
That was actually quite enjoyable. The female pirates in the backround were hot. I couldn't tell if that lead pirate was male or female, but who cares, because his vocals sounded awesome. Kinda reminded me of the whole Pete Burns persona.
Anyone got other links to thier other songs? I'd like to hear more of those vocals.
