Burning Your Own cds

Post by drnrg » 06 Jun 2005, 04:37

8) Hey do any of you Eurobeaters like to copy your SEBs onto your PC and then burn your own SEB volums. I love doing volumes of just all TIME songs or SCP or so on or "Best of" as I like to call them. I burn a ton a month. different oder and so forth. One of my most played right now has:
GoTo- Not 4 Sale
Mike J.-Touch & Go
Stephy Martini- Emotions
Tam Arrow-Tam Arrow Go
Big Town Guy-John & Mary Dance
Dee Dee Wonder- In The Land...
Max Duccati- A Million Dollars
Nando- Toy Boy
Giacommo Caria-Light My Fire
Nik Key- SOS
ChrisT. -I Wanna Be The Night
Time All Stars- 150
Damon- Work Your Body
and some classics
Lisa Jonson- Hey Superman
Go Go Girls- Funny Love
Vanessa- Time
Lucya- The Way You Love Me
Christine- Crazy Generation (Euromach cut)
Tension- Tell Me Why(Maharaja Nights)
Robert Patton- Shame On You

notice how I like the older female songs more than the new ones

I always burn cds for myself. My orig. SEBs will take their place in the "safe".
But I don't use my pc for this. I have a table-cd writer, you know in the hi-fi tower. I always do compilations like:
-some tracks from SEB
-some tracks from HRG cds
-some tracks from Saifam cds
-some tracks from vinyls (in the past)
so in this case I can listen all my favorites not just HRG or just ASIA etc.
...I remember that time...

I like actually mixing the cds, for one large non-stop.

Was working on a 70 songs 70 minutes on, until my hd crashed, and all I had was up to 30 (on a friend's compy). And the part of the mix I lost had some really funny transitions. Like in Perfect World, the "What's his name?" immediately went to "GHOSTBUSTERS!" (From Dancemania Speed FX)

Ah well.

I usually just burn whatever my favorite songs of the moment are. Usually the songs will all have something in common, whether it be the same artist, same label, same gender, same style, etc. ^^

Could somebody please explain the techniques and programs needed to make a proper non-stop mix? I'd really like to be able to do this, but don't even have the first clue of how to do transitions, how to isolate specific parts of the track so not too much of the sound itself messes up a transition, how to make the mix flow properly so it doesn't sound like a complete trainwreck, etc....

Any help would be appreciated...

In reply to KitsuneStar on mixing CDs:

First off, I'm hardly a pro at mixing. I'm limited to transition and fading, as I do not have audio mash up, or mix up programs. However, here's my advice on the best ways for transition fading:

For SEB style music, I start the track (from a previous track) at about 30 seconds into the song. 30 or so seconds is about the time when a SEB song has the intro phase of it past, and where the song will go into the synth lines. Since SEB is fast, I keep my fading time from the previous track to three seconds or less. This allows for a better feel for the beat.

Fortunately, most SEB is close for BPM numbers, so you can usually get away with just editing start and end track time and then throwing the 3 second cross fade time in.

When I edit the end time limit for SEB, I usually end them 5-10 seconds before the normal end, as the beats will push into the next song (which I set to begin when the main synth comes in. This way the energy keeps on moving).

I use the Nero CD burning program for these effects. Any other members care to chime in on this topic for mixing?

When I make my nonstop mixes and remixes, what I use is a handy little program called Acid Pro. Most people have version 4 but there's actually a version 5 out now. It's a little expensive but I'm sure you can find it somewhere... But its the best program I have for mixing. Another great tool I use to warp and do stuff to my songs is Cool Edit Pro but I hardly know how to use it rather effectively. I need someone to help me with that program. My remix, Jimmy Bravo - Starman (Return To The Moon Mix) was done using both Acid Pro and Cool Edit.
