Super Eurobeat 203
For anyone that's interested, the album is now available to buy on iTunes Japan. Weird that Diabolik is actually the shortest track on the whole album - every other song is over 5 minutes
I'll post some thoughts when I've had time to digest the full versions
EDIT: Before anyone corrects me, Try Me (Rock Mix) is 4:34, but I'm not really counting that as a new Eurobeat track
Only listened to David Dima and Momo so far, but already I'm loving this new album - quality is high, with some quality synth hooks and loads of energy.

I'm anxious to hear what other people think of I Belong To You, because after hearing the full version, I was speechless, not knowing what to think. A part of me wants to not like it, but without reluctance, I continue to play it. It is a song that one would expect to hear on a dance or trance album, and it has been done before with Because I Need U / Renoir, but I don't know. I did feel that the production was better on this than Because I Need U, plus better vocals obviously.
Freedom.... it's alright Nothing like Fight & Go unfortunately I still like the riff (or intro) though. I still HATE that part at 3:12 though -_- It sounds terrible and so random. They did the same thing in I Can't Stop Loving You too in the middle...

I'm probably not the best person to ask as I seem to be well known as a fan of the slower dance-influenced styles in Eurobeat, but for what it's worth I reckon I Belong To You sounds excellent. It still has the Dima "bite" - something that's really difficult to explain, but it's heard in the tenor of the kick drum and the various synth bursts in the background. Stephy's vocals tread the line between a more "traditional" Eurobeat vocalist and the extravagant style of Mari-San, and overall the track reminds me so much of early 90's dance tracks like Real Love by The Time Frequency (one of my personal favourites).Tiger wrote:I'm anxious to hear what other people think of I Belong To You, because after hearing the full version, I was speechless, not knowing what to think. It's going to be a marmite song without a doubt - people will either love it and embrace the changes or they'll turn their nose up in disgust and mourn the further commercialisation of Eurobeat. For me, it's most definitely the former and I look forward to more visionary tracks in this style
At this very early stage, my top 5 tracks are:
1st: SEND ME AN ANGEL
2nd: I BELONG TO YOU
3rd: TAKE THIS WAY (biggest surprise on the album for me!)
4th: FREEDOM
5th: TOY FOR LOVE
...although Waiting For Your Hero, My Dream and The Snake Around are all knocking on the door of the top 5 as well! What an excellent album all-round - I was concerned that after such strong samples, I would disappointed, but I'm digging virtually every track. Even Grandpa Dave singing Try Me has a certain odd charm to it (crazy piano riffs and a fairly drowsy guitar solo - he's definitely been smoking something these past months!!)
EDIT: You know, I think Toy For Love might just be the kind of simple genius song that only comes around every few years. It's fascinating and makes me want to play it again and again! Also, I cannot stop laughing at the king of weird surprised yet pleasurable noise given off around the 2:58 mark. Here's a short 7 second sample so you can hear what I'm talking about... http://www29.zippyshare.com/v/53528711/file.html

I heard this and it's not working at all for me. Too comercial and a beat away from Lady Gaga style.I'm anxious to hear what other people think of I Belong To You, because after hearing the full version, I was speechless, not knowing what to think. that sounds like Nando being someone's Toy 4 Love. Also, I cannot stop laughing at the king of weird surprised yet pleasurable noise given off around the 2:58 mark. Here's a short 7 second sample so you can hear what I'm talking about... http://www29.zippyshare.com/v/53528711/file.html
Really digging the album, very solid throughout (even Try Me is pretty good). Funny thing, with all the experimental songs, a couple of the more "traditional" songs almost sound retro. Although, really, it's not a very surprising album. Everyone seems to be about what you'd expect from them, but done very well this time. Probably won't change anyone's minds about certain things (Domino singing Japanese, the influx of other styles, etc), but if you do like them, they'll be great.
First time hearing Diabolik, was really surprised. Feels different, but good.
Not really getting the questionableness of I Belong to You. Not nearly as different from eurobeat as Because I Need U. Not even as different as Emotions, which I thought was pretty non-eurobeat. Seems like a very solid song.
Loving 1-0-9, but I think Send Me An Angel wins the album for me. (shocker, I know )

Uh... Okay. I listened to the album twice through.
It's interesting because this is one of only very few albums I can listen through from start to end with no problems... There are no truly bad songs as such, which is good; however, at the same time, there isn't one song that I'd want to put on repeat either. Reminds me of SEB187 where I'd probably rate every song as 6, 7 or 8 out of 10. My review for this album will most likely be like that, but I'll listen to the album a bit more before I write it up.
As for my first impressions of these songs, 'Send Me An Angel' and 'One-O-Nine' are near the bottom of the barrel, whereas 'Take This Way' and 'Toy For Love' appear to be the highlights of the album. Like I said though, these songs aren't exceptionally bad or exceptionally good.

So far I LOVE Toy For Love but that probably surprises no one at all. Freedom is nothing special for me... sounds pretty typical forgetable and I totally hate the riff. I thought this track was supposed to be "experimental". The Stephy track is better than I anticipated but its not eurobeat. I would enjoy more tracks like it but definitely no where near SEB.

Does any one get the feeling that Take This Way is part two to Ready Forever? Incredible song and that riff....OMG! It totally took me by surprise since it was ommited form the preview. Seeing that Ready Forever was written a while back on TIME, this new Take My Way must have been a sort of request from AVEX. It's like they told Dall Ora to make Ready Forever even better and more powerful. As for my first impressions of these songs, 'Send Me An Angel' and 'One-O-Nine' are near the bottom of the barrel, whereas 'Take This Way' and 'Toy For Love' appear to be the highlights of the album.
