Youtube videos actually featured a 90-s bubblegum dance style which is smtg that really developed as an outside thing to a typical eurodance.
So technically it is not a proper eurodance.

Aleky singer to me sounds like eurobeat, 'cause she sings more
agressively on chorus as is typical for eurobeat. Track is
still sounding like eurobeat despite an apparent commercialization
of Dima's eurobeat sound.

If any eurobeat track actually sounds too eurodancy, than it is neither eurobeat or it is an eurobeat gone to crap. Eurobeat labels need to keep this in mind 'cause they can kill it again in the same way their counterparts did it in Europe in the early 90-s.
If it wasn't for Japan than we'd have only all this over
the radio shit-pop-flatusmix to listen to nowdays.

Doc, btw, when Tess left a rather mediocre La Cream, she
had an awesome solo album in 2001 *one love to justfy*.

Even it's an old release this Kate Project - In your arms. I'm very  with the return of this kind of style of the Saifam group!
I hope this is not a 'one of a kind try out' of AVEX.
Hopefully this will set of a new start by Saifam. And perhaps for Eurobeat, love the slow BPM.

Greetings out of Cedar Key Florida, the three weeks in the 'sunny state' are almost over. This evening back to AMS via ATL.

Ciao,

Ronald (already Sun Fire fan)

Sounds like quite an inconsistent album judging by the samples. There are a few very promising ones, especially Labyrinth of Love, which has clear potential to be one of the best tracks of the decade. However, it bothers me slightly that the chorus resembles that of a very classic Finnish song. >_>

In My Arms and Hard to Say I'm Sorry get my second and third places at this stage, respectively.

Hey Ronald. I rmember seeing some of those artist names in the inventi d azzurro magazines towards the late 90s. I didn't think they fit in the same style as the recent hiNRG Eurobeat songs of TIME, DELTA, HRG Attack at that TIME and thought they really clashed as far the list was concerned.

They weren't bad songs, but I have a strong dislike for thier percussion ,basslines and vocals. It sounds too comercial and the singers usualy maintain the same tone of singing thruout the song, therefore you don't have the agreesiveness in the chorus and the songs hardly ever have a bridge. That's not even mentioning the wonderful intros and breaks Eurobeat has. All these factors; which are perfect for radio aceptance. since people tend to like simple produnctions, led to the fact, that this Eurodance style sounded actually kinda boring to me. Not to mantion that groups like Aqua, seemed more like a mockery of Eurobeat than anything else. Anyway, I love the slower bpms that the last SEBs are returning to, but I wouldn't like Eurobeat to adopt these Eurodance soundworlds at all. :?

BTW, I have Whatever Love, but I have the Eurobeat version ,becuze it doesn't have commercial soundworlds at all. great song too. :D

In My Arms is a decent song. I'm not gonna go nuts over it, like some of you seem to. I can hardly get throuh Kate's vocal style of singing. Karen and Wain L from ABeatC had a similiar style, but since they sang pure Hi NRG Eurobeat ; the emphasis was more on the music ,than her vocals. Her songs were really buisy in the soundworlds department as opposed to this Kate project song, where the simpler sounds kinda work against her this TIME around.

It amuses me that the tracklist for that compilation features In My Arms and the song that it reminds of (Memories Of You by Orlando). Talk about deja vu... :D

From the sounds of that Finnish song, it seems like Aleky is just a "cover band," so to speak. hahaha - I think it sounds too similar to be a coincidence, but I'll wait to hear the full version of Labyrinth of Love before I make my final judgement XD

I kind of am on Javier's side with the whole Dima thing. The only song from Dima I can say I've truly enjoyed as of recently was 1 Week. I acknowledge Eternity as a good song, but it's not a song I like going back to listen to. I find Aleky's voice annoying and if I wanted to listen to Eternity I would listen to the original by Overhead Champion.

It's actually not even the first time a eurobeat track resembles something Finnish. An even clearer case is Queen 26's Inside Your Heart, which sounds very much like Tuula's Inside Your Love. Unfortunately though, I don't have either at hand right now but I'll get back to it when I do (provided I don't forget...).

Why does this bother you? It shouldn't. Half of the eurobeat produced these days are covers or rehashes of older songs; it's a defining feature of the genre.

I've been calling Dima a one-trick pony ever since 'Save a Prayer' was released. Oh boy. I still remember all the adverse responses I got to my slightly negative review of that song from just about everybody else who were orgasming over it! Having said that though, I actually enjoy Aleky's songs since they're slightly different to what we're accustomed to hearing, even if they are just covers.

Haha good point, I was listening to the samples and was about to make the same point myself but noticed you beat me to it. Plus Kaija beats the hell out of Labyrinth :P! Her stuff never gets old. And hmh gotta double check that Tuula song, got her album somewhere but wouldn't remember the resemblence anymore.

Well, all I can say is that I hope the resemblance is just in the chorus, and not for the whole song. The verses of that song are a mess. Anyway, I would still prefer the Aleky track since I can understand what the hell she is singing about!

I have it on good authority that the Dima and the other writers/production crew have never even heard that Finnish song, so it must just be a happy coincidence.

One more day till I get my hands of this album - I'm soooooo excited!!

new samples

Post by ilovesynthmusic » 03 Aug 2010, 01:38

i found a new sample, which is longer than the sample somebody put on this forum, of Aleky - Labyrinth of Love on Dima Music's website. it has an extra 1-3 seconds more at the end so that you can hear the full chorus and a bit of the riff. here is the link, guys:

http://www.dimamusic.net/database/index.html

on a related note, there is also a crap load of new songs just added to dima's database along with samples. i figure the ones starting with catologue DMUN stand for "dima music unsorted" songs, maybe leftovers we might see released in thfuture, the ones with DMT seem to be from the album series of Techpara. I'm not really sure what the ones titled with catalogue DMTR could be, but after listening to the samples, maybe they could stand for TRANCE? maybe dima is making trance songs now too! i just wonder for what label are they?
