Super Eurobeat 218
Here comes my review~ I'll be giving my thoughts only.
01. Crazy On Emotions / Ace (SCP)
Without a doubt, probably the most memorable song since... Futureland for some, Me & You for some or Wait For You for the others. Personnaly, I always liked Me & You, Wait For You and my ultimate favorite Futureland. Crazy On Emotions brings a wave of freshness for Ace. The song really is "crazy on emotions" especially with the line "The music magic wizard of your sooouuul" that brings heavy heartbeats and makes the song highly memorable. I really love all the arrangement, music, vocals and sounds used in the song.
10/10
02. Bye Bye Girl / Virginelle (Go Go's Music)
A chaos, yes. A bad one? HELL NO! All those back vocals just adds to the catchiness. What else can bring more ctachiness? The music, the vocals and synth riff all contribute to the awesomeness of this song. Really, can't say how much I love this song!
10/10
03. Dance Dance Let It Go / Oceania (SunFire)
Slow intro... we've known those for a long time now from A-Beat-C/SunFire. But this intro mixes into a cacthy riff and quirky vocals. The chorus is extremely catchy. The intro and the verse might be the downside of the song though. Just a bit. This is a very good production no doubt about it.
9/10
04. Don't Forget To Love Me / Emmanuel (Delta)
OK, I try to concentrate myself and to listen to this song but I just can't seem to bring myself to love this song. It's so-so at best. The riff and overal music is sub-par. Vocals are OK. That's about it.
6½/10
05. Don't Cry Tonight / Ciao Ciao (Low-NRG Attack)
Can't love this. Even sped up, it's not even better. Just no.
3/10
06. Rain / Mistika (Dima)
This song is pretty good! It might be a bit hard to get into it at first but once you listened to it once, you can't forget. Really good tune, really!
9½/10
07. In My Supercar / Nando (Sinclaire Style)
There might be some production problems in the intro... cut off sound effect? Anyway, the title sounds super energetic. In my ears, it's sub-par energetic. The riff is not as energetic as I would have liked to hear. The chorus is OK but not as catchy as I would have imagines, imo. Overall, it's an OK song but yeah, the enrgy is not as present as I thought it would be.
7¼/10
08. On Your Wings / Rich Hard (SunFire)
Here is another "don't get trapped by the intro" song. Once this good stuff catches up, it's an amzing tune. I've really been digging Rich Hard as of late. His songs always bring a new thing : either new samples, vocal styles, etc. This song is no exception. The verse is very well sung and in a different way most singer sings Eurobeat. The chorus is probably the most memorable part of the song. I really enjoy this track a lot!
9½/10
09. No Money No Honey / Cy-Ro (Hi-NRG Attack)
That's the stuff I love from Hi-NRG Attack. I've always known this label for their wacky and chaotic sounds added to the nonsense that gives the lyrics. The intro is weird but the riff, verse, bridge and chorus are really what I love from them. Catchy, it's really easy to sing along.
9½/10
10. The End Of The World / Dream Fighters (Dima)
What's up with Dima and the world's ending theming? Sunrise ~You'll Always Be Alive~ and now this one? Anyway, the intro is pretty good and, overall very good. Dunno... can't find words to describe what I feel. It's good very good.
9½/10
11. Ministry Of Power / Fastway (SCP)
The patterns for this song has really reminded me of "One Touch" by Ace Feat. La Gatta but tonned down quite a bit. I don't know if I should just compare them. Let's just not because both songs are on different levels. What people might not like on this is the riff. I understand. It's awkward. Fortunately, the vocals are amazing and catchy. Music in the verse, bridge and chorus is really catchy. Very good song overall.
8½/10
12. Love Is Danger (British Healing Remix) / Linda Ross (Time/Avex)
You play 11 high energetic tracks then to be rewarded by "sleep-pills replacing" song on the 12th and to be continued by 3 more high-energy tracks. Gotta be kidding. This track's placement suck and IT sucks! It could have been at the end since all other tracks are bonus tracks too...
-1/10
13. Hello Kitty / Alix (SCP)
Holy crap. Here is the king/queen of happy-go-lucky music, hello kitty! Alix really did a great job on this song vocal wise. The music is really catchy. Don't be fooled by the caracther symbolized by the song, the song really powers cuteness and catchiness. Don't get me wrong, I'm a 23 years old man and I love this song but don't like the "Hello Kitty" carather. Awesme song is awesome.
10/10
14. My Melody / Annie Love (Go Go's Music)
Slow stuff is slow. And it's not even listenable. I really don't like this song, it's annoying on all points.
3/10
15. Little Twin Stars / Aleky (Dima)
Stars... When I think of this song, I think of stars. Why, because it has a dreamy atmosphere. Dreamy soundworlds, dreamy vocals... I love them. That synth riff is simply amazing. One of the best Dima tracks in a while!
10/10
>>OVERALL<<
This album is a really good surprise. When the tracks were good, they were good. When the tracks were bad, they were BAD. The album suffers from a bad track placement/decision. Otherwise, SCP and SunFire really shine on this album. All their tracks were really good. Dima, Hi-NRG Attack and Go Go's had their part in that too. I really enjoyed this album. I hope that there will be more Eurobeat albums this enjoyable in the future.

椛ちゃん、助けてぇぇぇぇぇ!
I looked through the booklet today. Many interesting things to note. "Dance Dance Let You Go" is how it is spelled in the booklet. The lyrics section also say "Dance Dance Let You Go." It took me a while but I think avex is right on this one now. It is easy to confirm if you listen to the end of the song. It's funny how the comments even say that the riff sounds like "Yellow Magic." In the comments for "Rain," it calls the song "Romantic Dima Style." Sjoerd's last name is misspelled as "Veermak" in the writing credits as well for "Rain." The lyrics for all three Sanrio Friends songs are in the booklet as well. The interview is of Ryo Akasako is featured in the booklet at the end. An interview with "David[sic] Di Marcantonio" is planned for next time. Maybe Darksky can post the english answers to the questions?

Lol, I didn't know my name was misspelled in that booklet. Shame on the guy who made the typo :p There has been an interview with Davide di Marcantonio, will this interview appear on SEB219? I do have the English answers and questions, I'll publish them for you as soon as the interview has appeared somewhere in Japanese.Tiger wrote:I looked through the booklet today. Yeah, whoever posted the tracklist here first made an error since the booklet, CDJapan and even the sample gives the name of the track as 'Dance Dance Let You Go.'Tiger wrote:I looked through the booklet today. If you're going to post the tracklist, make sure you've got the names of the songs correct at least. I usually rely on this site to get the correct information for my ID3 tags (since I can just copy and paste them in) and nothing irks me more than getting those wrong, haha.
My bad - I was sure the sample was tagged "Dance Dance Let It Go", but guess I mis-read it... still does sound like "It" rather than "You" to me though...Jay wrote:Yeah, whoever posted the tracklist here first made an error since the booklet, CDJapan and even the sample gives the name of the track as 'Dance Dance Let You Go.'Tiger wrote:I looked through the booklet today. Apologies for the confusion...
This album is fairly solid and consistent, but it doesn't really have many excellent tracks as SEB 217 did, and so I don't find myself that enthused about it. Ace still sounds great, as do Virginelle, Annie Love, and Aleky, but for the most part, the content here is just good-but-not-great. Honestly, most of it sounds like a bunch of inferior replicas of previous songs that I particularly loved. For example, Rain sounds like a slightly weaker Fever of Love, On Your Wings a slightly weaker Tell Me Why, and even Little Twin Stars falls short of Aleky's groundbreaking debut, Eternity. So overall, even though this compilation is good in itself, it nonetheless has little replay value for me due to its lack of fresh material that stands out.

seems like the overall interest for this cd is low
Not too many comments or feedback. I; for one havn't even ordered it yet, but that's because I'm trying to hold out for the comming dry Eurobeat period.
I'm actually still really enjoying 217, so it's not like I'm hard up for new music just yet.
T did finally get to hear the two new songs from Ace & Fastway. Ace is allright, but I'm really liking Fastway's new song. Has that feel of his older titles like Dr. Stranger and Thomas Lee. Lot of Aggressive energy and that's puts SCP as one of my favourit monthly labes. Hotblade, Lou Master and now, Fastway. very good summer showing for the label.

I haven't really listened to the album a whole lot yet, but since I'm driving to work tomorrow I'll stick the disc in my car stereo and blast it to and from work. Ace, Mistika and Dream Fighters have been the only tracks that have really stood out to me from the tiny amount I've listened to - the Aleky track is (sorry to be blunt) pretty rubbish compared to everything else she has ever released - in fact, the final 4 tracks may as well not exist for all I care about them. But like I said before, I'm clearly not the target market for the Sanrio-themed songs.... just wish they didn't take up vital space on the main SEB series.

You really think Little Twin Stars is that bad? It's certainly not Aleky's best outing to date, and maybe it's a bit of an oddball as far as Dima songs go, but I'm surprised you would actually go as far as to call it "rubbish."the_ditz wrote:the Aleky track is (sorry to be blunt) pretty rubbish compared to everything else she has ever released - in fact, the final 4 tracks may as well not exist for all I care about them.
