When I said 'Sunrise' sounds similar to Dima's songs in the 180s (I was talking about 'Tsundere Night' in particular, sorry), I was referring to the mood of both songs rather than the speed. I never said 'Sunrise' is a bad song though, and if I made a top 20 instead you'd probably see a lot of those songs you and drnrg have mentioned creep in, including that one.
drnrg wrote:Something like that. You already mentioned and explained why it didn't make the list, but since you brought up the point of ballads; I thought "Sunrise" would have been a dead ringer for your top list. It certainly one of the most epic songs Dima has written. As for HRG; I don't recall weather you enjoyed "Crazy Diamond" or not but that particular song steered far away from the current Eurobeat state That for me it was Italo disco more than anything. I mean, if a change is what you craved; I thought that song delivered. Aside from that;l actually did kinda think Ciao Ciao "Together" or maybe even "You Are In Love" Michelle Rose would have a fair shot. I'm also surprised "Shalaka Boom" didn't make the cut. and cannot see any reason why "Passport To Dance" didn't make the list either. As for Sun Fire; I was kinda hoping to see "Lonely" on the list..and Lou Master goes without saying, because it has that Eurogrooves like feel in the intro and riff.
Well, I didn't really enjoy 'Wheelpower & Go!', so I suppose it's inevitable that I wasn't going to like 'Passport to Dance' either since they're both quite similar. The only reason I liked Nando's 'In Your Supercar' more than those two was because of that galloping synthline, which was also used in 'Toy For Love'. Makes the song sound far catchier.

But many of those songs you mentioned, including 'Shalaka Boom, 'Lonely', 'Together' and 'You Are In Love', were on my mind when I made that top 10. I really had to restrict myself though especially with those last few places in my top 10, but the reason I picked the Annalise and Oceania songs was because I find myself coming back to them more than those other ones. There's no other reason really.

I think you're right in saying that my tastes in eurobeat have changed a lot this year. Honestly, I hadn't noticed that myself until I looked back on last decade's top 10 and thought "oh wow, maybe they're right", haha.

Sun Fire have always been the creme de la creme of SEB for me, and they were the only label that didn't release a single bad song this year. Unlike last year though, where one of their songs stood above all the others, there was strong competition this time round, and after an inner debate with myself, decided to give another song, that only won by a teeny bit, the gold medal instead. Request: Shake things up come 221? My only gripe with the label is that for the entire year, there was only ONE high adrenaline track from them, and it was at the freakin' beginning of the year, not cool at all. I seem to be the minority on this though, because from what I can see, all of the label veterans who does songs of those style had been bashed to the moon and back, while most of those that are anything BUT that receives rave reviews. It's hard to fault personal preferences for sure, but dang, that's just creepy weird. Hi-NRG Attack has been very diverse, but the Cy-Ro song on 218 is really the only song this year I'd take home anyday. Even then, it's not exactly top ten material either.

SCP had a few stumbles along the way, and how ironic is it that most of their worst performances came from some of my most liked aliases of the label namely Jager, Jay Lehr and Irene. Fortunately, the positives outweigh the negatives, and while I can sort of see where some people's concern for SCP's direction is, I still think they can put out some really good tracks like the two Ace tracks, the two male tracks on 217 and "Ministry Of Power". Dima treads on extremes. Where they flop, they flop hard. Where they shine, they shine bright. This year saw the release of what I think, are some of their best and worst songs ever. Come 220s, trying to outdo songs like "Sunrise" or "M.U.S.I.C" would be a bit over ambitious, but to raise the general level is very much do-able, and knowing Davide, he probably will. Sinclaire as usual, has excellent male tracks and underperforming female tracks. I do hope to hear more songs in the style of "Wheelpower & Go!" though, as that is one jaw droppingly amazing guitar fiesta.

Now the worst labels of the year are Delta, *Surprise surprise* GGM and *Surprise surprise surprise* Saifam. For GGM, I think I have said it before, but I am just not a big fan of the way they do their thing and their feminine style. Their most impressive song this year aren't really that much of a "WOW!" type either. For Delta, they used to be quite strong, but "Time Of Fighters" and "Forget My Heart" were the only tracks from them this year I felt satisfied with, with "Time Of Fighters" being a short-lived contender for one of the year's best but fell short by a hairbreadth due to strong showings from the other labels on later albums. On Saifam, it looks like they can't even be bothered with original materials anymore. Well guess what, so do I, I barely even notice their absence on SEBs or listen to their recent tracks more than five times nowadays, and they are about as good as wasted CD space at this point of time.

having prelistened to SEB 218; I have come to realize that besides Fastway's "Ministry Of Love", which is still too short to make my top 10 Eurobeat songs of the year, nothing from that cd is likely to become a favourite tune of mine. The songs are either too safe or sound too much like better presentations from the same artists of this year.

You can very well be expecting mine to be something like Jay's. Not in the sense that my style has changed;it's still every bit as predictable as i previous years, but in the sense that my lists will probobly break away from the current favourites posted here now.

so Instead of posting my top 10, I'll probobly post the top songs that had some sort of sjust trong impact on me, weather they came in at #4 or #22.

I'll do the same for my bottom 10. Rather than post 10 songs from Saiafam, I'll pick out some real dissapointments from each label. Including from my choice labels.

I finally got around to compiling my top Eurobeat songs of the year. It seemed really unfair to do it when this thread was first posted, since we still had a few months till December, but now, it seems just right. So yes; once again, it's TIME to countdown the top Eurobeat hits of the year.
Unfortunately this year, only 73 SEB released songs made the list, but quite a few had long chart runs. This first batch of songs; are, what I concider, the big misses this year. They mostly consist of Saifam covers, some of wich I didn't even concider Eurobeat, including hip hop covers, which pretty much has ruined the label for me, but almost every label had at least one dissapointment. Anyway these first songs; which never made any chart appearance on my top 40, are listed in order of preferance from terrible to bad. :P

MC Boy - Just A Dream(Saifam)
Sarah - Aloha-Oe Until We Meet Again(Saifam)
Lolita - Rhythmysticaltycious(GoGo'sMusic)
Alix - Hello Kitty(SCP)
Annie Love - My Melody(GoGo's Music)
Megan - Time To Say Bye Bye(Sinclaire Style)
Ace - Set Me Free(SCP)
Christine - Dancin' Together(SCP)
DJ Space'C - Danger Zone(Saifam)
Melissa White - Movin' & Lovin'(SCP)
Sally - Feel The Magic(Dima music)
Speedmaster Feat. Cindy - Pretty Girl Rock(Saifam)
Tipsy & Tipsy - Dance Boom Boom(Saifam)
Irene - Every Heart Wanna Fly(SCP)
Annalise - Love Toy(ABeatC)
Vicky Vale - Sunday Morning(Delta)
This Vicky Vale entry, was actually not bad, but I much more prefferred two of her other unreleased songs.

Now without further delay, here are the top 73 songs of the year. Complete with thier chart history. The top 50; are actually, what I would concider the creme of la crop of this year's music.
Now, if you are interested inthe actual list; which includes all non SEB related songs released this year, tune into the Eurobeat top 10 thread. There you will see songs from Super Duper series, EuroEnergy and all other itunes related Eurobeat songs. That, would be concidered my real list, since I really enjoyed alot of those songs more than some of the SEB material of this year. The list is pretty much self explanatory so enjoy.

These are the certified classics that will run the test of TIME. Literally taking over the slots where a Sergio Dall Ora production would normally occupy, thus making this list of mine, a sort of milestone. Now I'll include some highlights of the year and we start off by noticing that Sinclaire is back in top form with a 100% Eurobeat song glorifying all the race car themed songs heyday. Another big winner is Mr. Moog; who has had nothing but hits ever since the title first appeared. BBC is actually an older title that I begged to be released and my wish came true. Claudio Magnani is certainly one of the classic voices of Eurobeat and BBC had all the ingredients I craved for from traditional Eurobeat. SCP also makes one of thier biggest appearances on my list since, Fastway's "Number One". New artist Hotblade hit big with last year's "Plastic", but this year, he took his style to another lever with the mega Chartbuster, "Diconnected"(itunes extended). I specify the extended, because that is the version that made the song such a huge hit for me. ..and finally the big story in Eurobeat this year was HRG Attack's love of revisiting the golden Italo Disco years. With this new style;the label will no doubt, pick up the burning torch left behind by Eurogrooves/TIME. The new sound was so impactfull that Quite a few HRG Attack productions made a cross over from 2010 to 2011, proving that Eurobeat is here to stay. Let's hope for an even better Eurobeat year for 2012. 8)
