Studio History
I would like someone to explain to me the history of how studios were formed. For example, wasn't SCP originally with A-Beat C under Double and weren't the producers of Delta from Time and A-Beat C? I had once seen a chart of this flow but cannot find it. Wondering if someone can give me a history/timeline of eurobeat labels. I am assuming most things started with Flea.
Thanks!
Thanks!
FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND, IN NOT MUCH OF A CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER:
From FLEA came TIME and SAIFAM.
From TIME came ABEATC, DELTA and VIBRATION if I'm not mistaken.
Sprinkled from bits of each label came Double. Double became SCP.
From SAIFAM came HI-NRG ATTACK.
From ABEATC came GO GOS MUSIC. ABEATC became SUN FIRE.
From DELTA came SINCLAIRESTYLE.
VIBRATION became DIMA.
TIME became EUROGROOVES.
Am I missing much?

A lot's changed in the decade and a half I've been here.

Sprinkle bits of Time/AbeatC/SCP = Blast!
Also TIME was created by Farina, Crivillent and Maiolini. Farina left Time in the hands of Maiolini.
And I wouldn't say Vibration came purely from Time as it was both Caria and Stanga that created it as to my knowledge Stanga was never with Time but with Discomagic before starting LED Records.

Its impissible to keep that chart accutarate
you guys foget A. Somenzi also started out at TIME. Most noted for Toby Ash- Not This TIME
While Pasquini did stem from TIME; he produced many songs at FLEA before starting AbeatC. There he recruted Brian Ice, Corraini and Caria, who was always a free agent and and a few others He even sang a few on High Energy label.
Vibration was Caria's baby. He took Ferraris with him, who also started at TIME.
Laurent Newfield also got his start at TIME. he was mxing ever since Tension -My Dream. He also edited and remixed for Saifam and Flea.
Infact all Eurobeat producers at one TIME or another worked at TIME. I think one of the few who didn't start at TIME was Severo Lombardoni(Disco Magic) HE is just as important as Mairo Farina.
Damn! ONe could write a book on all the ITaloEurobeat players. IY's a fascinating history

Iventi d'Azzurro published a book last year, with the history of Italo 1983-2012 (or something like that). From 1990 onwards every chapter has a note about what happened in the eurobeat world, but that's really brief and in no way covering it all. It is interesting though, quite possibly for you too, drnrg.

D. Di Marcantonio has worked for TIME in the past. He composed a lot of tracks actually there. (His name cannot always be found in the booklets)para_rigby wrote:Now what about Labels like Hi-Site, NRJ Mania, Made Up Records, Fantasy (the one with Norm S.)? Does anyone about their history? I thought I heard that someone from Dima worked with Hi-Site.
We should definitely update that chart. A sort of archival project, you know.
After that he went with L. Stanga to: VIBRATION, along with that speed music label: L.E.D. MUSIC. Their publisher was NRJ Mania. They worked in the personal studio of D. Di Marcantonio. D. Di Marcantonio also made a couple of AKYR.
Hi-Site was set up by C. Varola and A. Gilardi. SCARLET studio.
A. Gilardi has worked for DELTA too.
A. Gilardi is now working for DIMA MUSIC.
FANTASY was set up by M. Suzuki. M.O.R. was also involved there, he has now his own label: PLUM. Both Japan based. Fantasy used American vocalists.

Years after I believe Pasquinni aquired the Aleph name. Remeber songs on AbeatC "Get Wild" "Let The Music Play"? Anyway, he was never able to mimic the success with the Aleph name that he had at TIME.
As for Claudio Magnani; One of the first labels I heard him on was the very under estimated ; Flea. HE was brought on board by SErgio Dall Ora and sang many songs under the names, Valentino, Dandy and Thomas & Shubert.

You are right on both counts. Now while he couldn't take the name Aleph with him; he took that same Aleph style over to Flea. He was executive producer for a while. You hear that same Aleph sound in songs like King Kong & D. Jungle Girls- Love Of The Angle, Venice- Love Games. Michael Dream- Eyes In The Sky.I thought that Pasquini worked for TIME for a while? Wasn't he the voice of Aleph? And I also remember reading something about him trying to wrangle the "Aleph" name from TIME, but ultimately being rebuffed.

what a mess...
more or less..
Once upon a long ago...the rough son of a chicken factory owner (GM) not really happy to walk into daddy's steps decided to produce a dance music record.
Once upon a long ago the brilliant son of a famous local doctor (MF) decided to leave daddy's home to sing in a cover band and run a studio with a musician (GC).
They had a good sound engineer (SO) and started to produced good italodisco music. GM, who didn't know anything about music (and still don't) but had some money, used to record all the songs with them and life was good at the happy factory.
One day SO decided to quit and run a videotapes shop and a french guy (LG), the second engineer, became the mixmaster.
The producing team became a reference for dance music and started to produced for third party labels, radiorama, ala bianca's flea and others, under pseudonym like gioco & cirelli (wife's name).
At a dinner MF and GC asked GM to sell his label as they were the main factor in his success but he refused and they divorced.
LG was working too much and not happy, he discovered MF was hiding the fact they were getting big money, so his girlfriend (CM) studio vocalist still in contact with GM suggested he could run a studio for GM and be the producer. At this time GM's label was weak and went back to the top with LG.
During a recording session with CM, (song title Bad Girl) 2 japanese business men from a company (one had a Jedi name) came to visit and impressed by the team asked GM for songs.
The studio was shared with an artist/producer called GP. GP had to go in japan for promotion for his own act (A) but GM had no time to go with him. At this time GM used to run the administration dept for the most famous dance music distributor in italy (SL) and asked the rock music dept manager to go with him. This long haired guy (AC) was so astute to understand he could set a big biz with GP and back home they gave a kick into GM ass and build a new label to be published by the japanese company.
The war between AC/GP and GM happened on SEB and that was a really good times for eurobeat....to be continued
