Bigga Boom wasn't on SCP Summer Fest. Also, it's probably unlikely that they make their own edits. It's extremely unlikely that they released the edit in order to market extended later. There are absolutely no reasons beside "I don't want to break the CD 74min limit" when there's 80 of them available.KiraTM wrote:Could it be that SCP makes those SEB/Radio Edits in order to only give people the extended version who really purchase their singles or compilations (like "SCP Summer Fest") and don't "steal" SEB albums?Lebon14 wrote:5 minutes!
Confirmed. Avex releases 4min Radio Edits of Go Go's Music and SCP tracks. And there are is enough space left to put 2 to 5 extra minutes on the CDs too...

I just inserted SEB226 and checked the size. 728.05 MB, we can exclude this possibility.eXtaticus wrote:^Unless Avex are still using 650MB discs for SEB as a cost-cutting measure, which wouldn't surprise me.
A new Fastway song, hm? I'm not that hyped, but a song with "Bang" in its name can't be bad.MKwiakaku wrote:Eurobeat - BEEN A BANG / FASTWAY

You know, I really like Fastway, but when are we ever going to get a new Dusty song? It's been six long years now since The Lovebite got released, and I seriously miss this deeper, slightly more experimental side of Ennio Zanini. Probably the closest thing we got during that time was Ministry of Power, which could've worked with either alias.MKwiakaku wrote:Eurobeat - BEEN A BANG / FASTWAY

Also, what is the point of repeating a song less than four years old just so we can hear one extra minute? Bigga Boom wasn't even Christine's best track by a mile. In fact, considering her record, it's probably her weakest ever.

QFT. I really wish people would get over this whole song length obsession. Eurobeat extended versions on the whole have become quite tired sounding, almost like the writers and producers can't quite think of anything interesting to do most of the time so they just cut and paste sections here and there to push the playtime up. That's not good production - a song should sound like a complete and rounded journey from intro to ending. There shouldn't be any surplus fluff in the way.#Infinity wrote:Also, what is the point of repeating a song less than four years old just so we can hear one extra minute? Ya, I can understand for listeners, the extended can be a bit tiring on the ears, but for DJs, having the extended versions is like striking gold. Too bad the DJs behind Avex don't mix outro/intro.the_ditz wrote:QFT. I really wish people would get over this whole song length obsession. A bit technical but explains why an audio CD can old 800MB and a DataCD can only hold 700.
Oh and, do you say that 700MB/80min CD-R have been a lie this whole time?!

You guys have to know how to appreciate that whole extra minute of an extded v.s. an edit. Really know your favourite songs from start to finish and everything inbetween to notice the small changes here aand there. I love "Bigga Boom". This particular version adds a little something here and there. mainly on the third verse where you can here some raw synths over the quieter parts of the song and right at the 4 min mark; you have a mini extramental part. My fav add is that short synth right after the first part of the last chorus. That short synth sounds really different from the other parts of the song. I could point out to you everylittle change that song has in extended. It isn't the biggest difference , but I still prefer it over the original edit anyday.
SCP; as a label, isn't my prefered when it comes to extendeds. There have been some exceptions like Hotblade "Disconnected" or crazy extended version of Scream Team's- "Boom Boom Scream", but for the most part; they kinda fall short of some epic extendeds from DELTA, TIME and HRG Attack... and don't shoot down the cut and paste effect just yet. With a little imagination and repeats and echos, you can turn a dull edit into a pretty interesting extended.
Bonkers
That pretty much sums it up. In the end everyone prefers extendeds. Why elese did everyone go haywire when DELTA released there entire catalogue. Everyone had to have them. AVEX went on a rampage, because they were released. Why didn'y you just stick to your seb edits?, because everyone wants the complete song. SCP releasing these extendeds form TIME to TIME confirms that they hold on to the complete(extended) product untill they see fit. Either way ,I'm glad they released this extended. In the end ; for me, its a BIGGA BOOM"
What I do think is useless is those two links that Bore got of Hotbalde and Jay Lehr. Those versions are still edits. Those have nothing moreto say. that for me is more of a WTF moment?

Too much of the time, extended versions just add a fourth iteration of the verse-bridge-chorus-synth loop where the differences usually involve removing the vocals during the verse or skipping the verse and going straight to the bridge, unaltered from before. I'd say a third loop is usually more than enough to vary the track towards the end, as this is usually where the background percussion, synth, and vocal patterns are emphasized differently in order to progress the song from before. Most o the time, the fourth loop doesn't do much except drag the song out unnecessarily.drnrg wrote:You guys have to know how to appreciate that whole extra minute of an extded v.s. an edit. If a song really needs to be closer to five minutes, then I really wish more labels would follow Asia Records' model, which retains the 3-loop structure of most 4-minute tracks but makes some of the other sections a little longer, usually the intro, as well as the breakdown that precedes the final verse. This is generally more effective anyway, since it feels a lot more dynamic and progressive and isn't as predictably repetitive. Songs such as Hi Hi Mazinga and Like a Fire just seem like they were built to be longer, since their SEB cuts are plagued by awkward transitions towards the end. The 4-minute versions leave out part of the breakdown, as well as the last verse, so what we end up with is an abrupt transition in to the final chorus or synth instead. By contrast, the full arrangements are epic musical journeys with a phenomenal sense of buildup and intuitive variation.

Often when the length goes to five minutes and beyond, I feel it's not only pointless but detracts from the impact. For example, the extended version of Stay With Me would be better with one less repetition of the cycle and if it just went into the modulation one earlier.drnrg wrote:You guys have to know how to appreciate that whole extra minute of an extded v.s. an edit.

For me, an edit is like you are listening to a dumbed-down version of a track. For me, listening to an extended, is listening to the song the way it was built from the beginning.
Here's an analogy. Go to a painting museum where several famous paintings are on display. Some of them are missing 1/4 of the picture. You go and ask the museum director about it and he answers "Well, you know, people just look at the top, so we'd figure we cut off 1/4 of the bottom." In other words, you are just not experiencing the whole thing and you just wish you could see the rest of it, even if it's probably minor.
Also that Bigga boom version sound so much better. Much less loudness war.
