I love Avex. (For making the teaser after most people would have gotten or *gasp* downloaded the full album by now)Mindsweeper wrote:ONE WEEK LATER...

There's a lot of butts for riffs lately.
Avex can do all the late teasers they want, it's time for a quick review of this amazing SEB volume. Tldr version at the bottom.
Fire In The Night / Ken Martin
A much better track than most of their cookie cutter female tracks out there for the sole reason it's so rare to see a powerful male track from the label nowadays. With that said, it's still Saifam, and I am generally not too interested in their tracks now even though I'm thankful that they're at least still creating eurobeat for us. It's a decent enough track, but I just can't appreciate their style of production so I'll pass on this one as well.
Grade : 2.5/5
It's Raining Love / Lolita
Very nice introduction, and while I may not be a GGM or Gobbi fan, it's great to see veteran eurobeaters giving their all from time to time. The flow in this track is a little weird though, the backing melody and verse suggests that this is more of a serious track than being upbeat, but the bridge - chorus suggest something totally different and by the time the cool sounding break hits, I would be lying if I said I wasn't totally baffled by the track the first few listens. It took a little while to get used to, but I find this to be a pretty neat track in the end. Gobbi still has it in her after all!
Grade : 3.5/5
Warriors On The Road / Manuel
The operatic belting, the plethora of guitars, the huge amount of testosterone and the flamboyance ... It could only mean one thing : A MANUEL TRACK! Running at a mere 3:58, this track is a little less dynamic than his previous tracks which usually carries a bit more twist than being just a powerful song with a guitar solo and belting. It basically suffers from a similar issue to "Magic Car" by Powerful T on 223 in that it could have been a MUCH better track with just a little more meat around the bones (which would bump it's song length to around 4:20 and above unintentionally), and just for that, it's difficult for me to 5/5 this one. Still a great track though!
Grade : 3.5/5
Heavensent / Ace
By far the most "raw" sounding and in your face Ace track of post 2010, which is GOOD. The song opens up with some weird dubstep, but fortunately doesn't last long enough before I got thrust into the aggressive sounding synth riff and the rest is history. The chorus is excellent and christian himself sounds very energetic, audacious and even somewhat cocky at some points, which is a stark counter to his usual "princely" crooning style. Nothing else to say besides : This is begging for an extended version - I'm 5/5-ing this SEB version, I can't wait to hear what an extend of this song will sound like. This song is truly "Heaven Sent" and easily ranks as one of SCP's best tracks in my opinion.
Grade : 5/5
Like A Din Don / Roberta
A song that grew on me much later due to it's incredible vocal melody. As I've said before, sinclaire's true strength lies in creating VERY VERY memorable vocal melodies, but as usual, I find his production style a bit too "unstable" for my liking. It sort of worked on "Minimal Love" and "Running On Love" but it just doesn't click with me most of the time. A common complaint from me on most Sinclaire female tracks. The riff of this track is pretty "out there" by the way, getting to hear that vocal melody and Grana though is a whole different feeling altogether. Back to singing Had it on my iPod running in the park, it got me power on~~
Grade : 4/5
Spider Queen / J-Stark
The longest song on this album, for good or bad. Likewise with most other Delta male tracks, it's catchy and energetic, but totally devoid of any true high or true low in the melody itself. You either like it for staying true to a tried and tested sound or hate it for sounding "samey" all the time. This track to me is not a new "Crazy Information" for sure, but for what it is though, it's a rather enjoyable track. Not much else to I can say about this track.
Grade : 4.5/5
Twister / Jeff Driller
I'll just say this straight : I don't particularly fancy Rimonti as a vocalist even though I like his contributions as a producer. Still, the crazy beaty and strong "fusion" melody is single handedly what makes the post-Malvicino Hi-NRG Attack so epic. Twister your sister indeed!
Grade : 3.5/5
On My Way / Norma Sheffield
The queen of melancholic love songs is here again! Opening with a dark introduction, this song has such a heavy flavour of Japanese/Chinese romantic atmosphere that it's shockingly endearing in it's own right. Melodically, I think that while the songs benefited from an incredible chorus and interesting sounding breakdown, other parts of the song left me rather feeling rather dull, almost like I'm just waiting to hear the chorus throughout the whole 4 minute track - which by the way, just sort of passes by when listening to this song, instead if I need a more well rounded and equally enjoyable track, I would just listen to "Baby You'll Be My Lover".
Grade : 3/5
Insomnia / David Dima
Similar to the previous track, the chorus of this track is probably it's only "high point" - you bring me to INSOMNIAAAA!~~ is far too strong not to get pulled along with it. The upside to this is that Dima's track has a stronger beat than Norma's track so it was definitely a lot more listenable. I enjoyed this track for what it is, but it is FAR from being a worthy follow up to the incredibly epic "Spirit Of The Night". Well, considering how the latter was one of the label's "best of" tracks, me thinks that expecting a second bullseye to happen anytime soon is asking for a bit too much.
Grade : 4/5
Girl In The Night / Dolly Pop
It's funny how not too long ago, a Hi-NRG Attack female track for me, is an automatic bullet train ride into the dark bottomless pit of the abyss. I for one, am very glad that the days of hearing atrocities such as "Pagal" or "Internet Kills The Eurobeat Stars" are over but is instead, mostly greeted with songs that are mature, dynamic, powerful and catchy starting with 231, while not entirely losing the quirky part of the label's trademark style. This track encompasses everything great about recent female Hi-NRG Attack tracks with an emphasis on a great beat, strong riff and chorus and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. Elisabetta's vocals have never been my top female vocals and I find her vocals very dependent on the materials she's given work with, and her recent outings on SEB really opens a new world for her and me as a listener, almost like she's born to do such tracks like this. This is without a doubt my favourite Hi-NRG Attack female track, EVER.

Guardian Angels / Oceania
Okay, the warped vocals certainly ain't for everyone. It wasn't for me at first too, but when fully released, I quickly found this song to be WAYYYY too cute and catchy to pass up because of that. Before I knew it, the warped vocals weren't bothering me in the least bit anymore, got swept off my feet by this track and subsequently went to a point of no return. I LOVE the chorus to bits - The way she sings "Moonshine" and "A Ray Of Sun ~~~" gets me every single time and the little breaths Malferrari does at the breakdown and the 2nd chorus makes this song much, much more endearing than it already is. This song is like the little puppy you see on the streets pouting at you, wagging it's tail and doing circles around you happily, you get disoriented at first but you will eventually succumb to it's cuteness because that's what it's all about. I'd go as far as saying that this is my favourite female Sun Fire track to date. Yes, I went there, this warped as hell Oceania song is better than Futura's normal voiced "Seven Night" on 233.

Way Up Across The Sky / Irene
Whenever I see "Irene", I automatically think of "Welcome To The Show" which while technically isn't "Irene" sung, was still Linda Ongarelli on vocals. Seems like that song became my sort of a new benchmark for all the Linda Ongarelli tracks sub-consciously. Well, anyways, this song still isn't nowhere near that level but it was very well sung and has some interesting beat drops in certain parts of the track. Other than that, the track is probably a bit more aggressive than a "Traditional" SCP female track so that's worth something right there. Not a bad track, but I think there are better tracks I can listen to on this album, such as the next track.
Grade : 3.5/5
Firebird / Lou Master
This track is what you'd end up with when you can't decide on whether you want an eurobeat track or an "eurock/metal" and just decide to straddle along both sides and have fun with it. The song opens up with a rock-inspired intro and a metal-inspired "FIREBIRDDDDD!!!" scream, which I admit, gave me quite the shock the first time I heard it before going into a semi-impressive mini guitar solo of sorts. Whoa, only thirty seconds into the track even before the riff hits and already this song is impressive as hell, the question is could it get any better? Admittedly, the riff isn't as high powered compared to the other parts of the track - or maybe I listen to "Get Yourself The Real Thing" too much - but is serviceable enough at least. That all changes when Lou Master begins singing in what I can only call "rocker vocals", which is awesome, and the part where he sings "Haha Brother" is basically on another level. The same can also be said of the chorus and the guitar accompaniments throughout the song, the best sounding one in my opinion are the ones played after each chorus. The song, while only running at a mere 4:18 also has a small guitar solo in the middle, which is not bad sounding at all. Overall, this is a very different sounding SCP from the usual stuff, and if this is part of the new direction they're going towards, as a fan of both dance music and rock/metal, I'm more than happy to welcome this style of music with open arms.

Fire Wire / Chai
Funny name aside, what I wrote about Sinclaire being great at vocal melody does not apply here as he seems to have dropped the ball in this track. Heck, I think he dropped the ball in this entire track, because aside from the semi-impressive breakdown and that Bon inspired "Uhh" in the middle of the track, the song just isn't that impressive. It isn't bad per say but it just seems to drag, kind of like doing housework, it feels like a chore to listen to this one when there's better tracks I could be listening to. The new vocalist doesn't do much for me either so I'll be passing on this one in anticipation of the next Dejo track.

Dee Dee's one was one of my fav by far, while Oceania have hit bottom. Hard.
Funny to see how people's taste can differ so much and still we can agree with some things completely - like your whole review of Elisabetta's track.

I finished the entire 30 minutes, I liked it but I don't think the song really suits being that fast, the original's speed is what allowed the full beauty of the track to shine through in my opinion. Thanks anyways!milachan wrote:You might like this.

Wow, did we go back to the 90s/early 2000s with this album?
Great contributions to the series, and shout outs to SCP for being daring to do some experimental things with their tracks. Not a lot of cheese on this album (even the Lolita track wasn't cheesy), but the driving energy was still there (except for Insomnia and On My Way).
Manuel...finally we get a track that holds up to his 2003/2004 tracks! Love the riff.
Hi-NRG Attack...these tracks just aren't you. You're slowly becoming more and more stale in ideas and generic in sound. The 232/233 entries were so much better. I miss your zany, chipmunk, cheesy disco, Bazookistan sounds!!
Overall, I give the album a 7 out of 10. It's a great male counterpart to its 233 female entry!
Top 3:
Fire Wire
Spider Queen
Stay Together
Bottom 2 (I couldn't think of 3rd one):

I had the same impression about this album and Manuel's track. I kinda agree with you about HRG - maybe generic at times - but I need to give 'em some credit, they're always doing different stuff and that's amazing hah! Girl In The Night sounds more remarkable to me than her entries on those two albums (I might have repeated Little Kiss and Little Girls Cannot Be Wrong some times, but not as much).Bonkers wrote:Wow, did we go back to the 90s/early 2000s with this album? After some more heavier repetition the album has slowly grown more on me. It's not a total waste in the end after all, but I had much higher hopes all in all.
Great
Manuel - Warriors On The Road
Lou Master - Firebird
Ken Martin - Fire In The Night
Dolly Pop - Girl In The Night
Good
Lolita - It's Raining Love
Ace - Heavensent
Irene - Way Across The Sky
The rest of the album doesn't really stand up to the level of the previously mentioned tracks. But it's still not a half bad amount of stuff I'll eventually end up listening to more in the future. Girl In The Night has been the biggest surprise in the long run. It does sound way more sophisticated than most of the HRG music and the production just seems more polished than the rest of their entries in the past year.

I admire people, which can describe the each song by several sentences and "feel more" between hyper computer's supported music. I wonder who and whether this person is still active here, made the review on Eurobeat Prime page about for example...... Super Eurobeat Vol. 1. This CD was described shortly as... boring. Rather I still don't fit with my mind to modern Eurobeat listeners
Yesterday I asked on my Dave Rodgers fan page, when people first time heard Eurobeat. Most of them 10 years ago or a bit earlier. Well, me too, but I didn't hear about Eurobeat as the only one CD represented the whole genre. I met Italo Disco and early Eurobeat types, not first contemporary beats, and then I didn't return to oldies. Probably because of that I can't understand reviews like "boring" and big descriptions about news.

That would be me. Aside for a few of the page reviews, those are all my mumbojumbo cocojambo.Crockett wrote:I admire people, which can describe the each song by several sentences and "feel more" between hyper computer's supported music. I met Italo Disco and early Eurobeat types, not first contemporary beats, and then I didn't return to oldies. Probably because of that I can't understand reviews like "boring" and big descriptions about news.

Interesting point, Crockett.
I also have encountered eurobeat over 10 years ago - funny, not related to SEB at all - and wow, people judging the whole genre by one album or compilation, as I even saw it myself, is just stupid. Eurobeat music is old! It changed a lot and let's not forget everyone's personal tastes hahahahahahaha

Well, a generation or date of birth isn't important. But if you liked Italo Disco, is some possibility, that you would be interested the high level of this music and any varieties in next years. That are transformations, mature into something faster, more professional, to richer sounds. But... If you started in 2005 and then return 10 or more years earlier, you don't know what was in past and how sounded. You will probably feel funny, strange, too simple beats. Even you will like these old beats, always closer to your heart will be news, what you met earlier. Isn't it? Without this comparsion's problem is only someone, who remembers the whole story chronologically, someone, who lived in those times.
