(Italo) disco covered into eurobeat

Post by SuperEuroJimmy » 24 Jan 2016, 15:17

So I was listening to some older eurobeat and noticed they were actually covers of italo disco (and non-italo) tunes. Do you know any others?

Examples

Latin Lover - Laser Light https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YcX_dexjxCg
by Ivan B. - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uou6X5vscN8

Kylie Minogue - Got To Be Certain https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8GV1CRmQUG4
by Cherry - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tna12ILeAF0

Taco - Got To Be Your Lover https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uivk0iZkllc
by Kevin Johnson - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2uwwDp4U6sE

Robin Gibb - Boys Do Fall In Love https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ksW2e9Us2Q
by Lou Master - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Knd_cCsARPo

Do you know any others? :D

TIME loved to do ABBA covers. They actually left the cover material for the group; Les Blue Belles.

Shine A Little Love - E.L.O
Bang Bang A Boomerang - ABBA

Sophie - Rapture (Blondie)

Stil Novo.

Baby Dolls - Proud Mary - CCR
Baby Dolls - Have You Seen The Rain - 70s classic

Disco Energy

Roger Lee - You Spin Me Round (DOA)

That's just a few, but there are many.

Another one from Stil Novo:

Creedence Clearwater Revival - Hey Tonight was covered by Italian Girls.
Stil Novo really has a fondness for CCR, huh.

"Thy body speaketh falsehoods!" - Norma Sheffield

I think you're forgetting a very important song...

It's about any cover versions in that topic ? Woahh... Less knowing about Eurobeat still think, that not ambitious artists had to copy 70s and 80s music. It's not true of course, many titles come from well known songs, but aren't cover versions. Just it's never ending list. Mauro Farina was always a "master" of covers, sometimes too much.

The best Kevin Johnson song was the one modeled after "I Should Be So Lucky". "Got To Be Your Lover". Especially when he makes a slight error and starts singing "I should be..." followed by "sorry sorry". Was it done intentionally or unconciously? whatever the reason? I'm glad Newfield kept that part in the song.

Maybe because he knew that Kylie's "I Should Be So Lucky" sounds like Taco's "Got To Be Your Lover":P

When I first heard Kevin's "Got To Be Your Lover", I had no idea of Taco's song, and thought at the time that Kevin's song was a copy of Kylie's song, but then I discovered Taco's song, which is the original cover sung by Kevin Johnson. Yeah, a tad confusing :???:

I prefer the cover, actually. Great beats and great vocals by Farina.

I know this may not be an italo disco cover that I'm mentioning, but I know that Dave Rodgers did a eurobeat cover of KISS's "I Was Made For Lovin' You" which appeared on Super Eurobeat Volume 71.

Yeah, there was also this T.a.T.u.-cover Not Gonna Get Us. I was actually looking for italo originals, because with those songs it's like the eurobeat version is a 'tribute' to it's roots. :)

Funky Sisters. Another Radiorama alias used for covers. They also covered Lime's "Babe We're Gonna Love Tonight" aside for the synth riff; I didn't much care for that perticular cover.
