BIG NEWS: Laurent Newfield's new Italo-Disco project!
Laurent Newfield (Laurent Gelmetti, who no longer is part of Delta) is part of a new Italo project called "Time Machine" which aims to product a Time Records Italo-disco sound of the 80's.
They have just released this December a single on Vinyl:
Phalanx - Modern Hero, on Flashback Records.
The vocals are provided by Terence Holler, who has sung on Super Eurobeat before on the A-Beat-C label, with back up vocals by Clara Moroni (and possibley Newfield as well, see below for more info.)
"The goal is to achieve the 1985-1988 sound of italian Time Records label as much as possible on each release" -http://www.discogs.com/artist/3663622-Time-Machine-12
Project members: Kimmo Salo, Laurent Gelmetti, Rafał Lachmirowicz
Their releases are on a label called Flashback Records:
http://flashbackrecords.org/news.html
Male vocals by Terence Holler (of A-Beat-C fame, as well as vocalist for Italian metal band Eldritch!) Female backups by Clara Moroni! Written by Terence Holler and also Giuseppe Mauro (both from A-Beat-C records).
http://www.discogs.com/Phalanx-Modern-H ... se/6419256
(note that the vocals listed on discogs.com say it's Newfield, but according to the official site, the male vocals are by Terence Holler. Discogs also doesn't credit Newfield in the production for some reason, unless he really does also contribute to the vocals as well, making Terence the main vocalist, and Clara and Newfield as the back ups?).
""Phalanx - Modern Hero" (TMP 002) takes some influences from Dave Rodgers productions. The lead vocalist, Terence Holler, has been working with Rodgers in the past and the female vocalist is the one and only, Clara Moroni, who has given her beautiful voice to numerous Time Records productions as a lead and background vocalist." -Flashback Records
btw, the songs are up to listen to as well, even though some of them are short, and seem to be only long previews, and not full versions (only the first link below is a full version of one of the mixes. (please support this new project if you like the songs by purchasing the vinyl):
Modern Hero (NRG Mix) FULL VERSION

Modern Hero (Extended Mix) *short preview only

There is also another new production by Newfield earlier in 2014:
http://www.discogs.com/Time-Machine-12- ... se/5341139
This is probably the best news I have heard about anything in the Italo/Eurobeat community since Time Records' absent, as well as Newfield's.
If only we could try to support these artists more, so that they can continue to make new releases often enough.
Even though only 2 have released so far in 2014, just imagine getting more "Time Records"- like releases every now and then, released on vinyl!!!
btw, there are also some other good releases on Flashback Records site, such as some new Brian Ice and others.

The vinyls are for sale on discogs.comWNight wrote:Not a fan of italo but it's good to see familiar names making a comeback, would buy when it's officially released and on sale.
right here:
http://www.discogs.com/sell/release/6419256?ev=rb
I wouldn't expect anything more "official" than that.
Only one vinyl is remaining for sale. Yesterday I saw 3 for sale on there, so people have been buying them since I've made the first post about this..I hope a larger stock will be availble to buy soon.
Oh, and the seller on discogs.com most likely are the producers themselves (most likely by Kimmo Salo since he is from Finland, and the seller on discogs is also from Finland, and his record track of his sold goods seem to be almost all by Flashback Records).

Wonderful News! Italo Disco NRG is my first love. Who other than Newfield to carry out that project!
remind me. Was Terrance singing under J. Storm? Anyway. "Modern Hero sounds amazing! It has that classic TIME feel to the touch. I do hear a tint of Aleph or some of the older Chester and Dr. Money singles. The vinyl's sleeve looks really good. Sounds like Phalanx might be a throwback the the Italo group; Phaeax who performed the classic "Talk ABout"
I see there is another ItaLove feat ken Laszlo song in the works. Or is that actually "Disco Queen?"
Looking forward to all the future projects.

No, J.Storm is Fabio Lione of power metal band Rhapsody Of Fire. Terence Holler has his own eurobeat tracks under his own name.drnrg wrote:Wonderful News! Italo Disco NRG is my first love. Who other than Newfield to carry out that project!

On the Flashback records website there is also a page for rebirth records. The various new generation set has a song called "Call Me" by Energy Voice. This is simply the best Hi-NRG song I've heard in over 20 years.

Ricardo Campa's "Japanese Doll" is also everything I expect in true soul Hi-NRG

The first song is very much like something Bobby Orlando would produce, again, with that "Spin Me Round" bassline.drnrg wrote:On the Flashback records website there is also a page for rebirth records. The second song actually I really like a lot. The singer of this song has that certain "dirty accent" charm that Gino Caria had, so I can totally see Gino Caria sing it if he were alive today.
Both songs have just amazing synth quality work, sounding exactly like the 80's to a T. It's rare to find such high quality sound productions in a lot of the newer generation Italo-disco.

Brand new song just released on vinyl a couple of days ago on Time Machine productions which is part of Flashback Records.
The song is the second single by Phalanx with vocals by Terence Holler and backups by Clara Moroni. Sounds very much like an old Aleph song especially the "another version" during part of the riff.
Mixed by Laurent Gelmetti.

This team didn't work with Aleph, but they really nice copied Aleph style. As I know, they are still using old synthesizers, to make such sounds and label's target is to imitate 80s Time Records style.synthjunkie wrote:Brand new song just released on vinyl a couple of days ago on Time Machine productions which is part of Flashback Records.

Apologize for bumping this old thread.
I am curious if anyone knows the contact details of Laurent Newfield? I want to purchase Arky Music and the Euro Master Collections from him.
I know he has setup a tradebit page but I cannot find what I am looking for. I have tried sending him a message through the web form and even his gmail 2 weeks ago but have not receive any replies....
Wondering if he changed his email address...
