uhh, whats with these lyrics?

Post by uberuser » 21 Dec 2005, 08:25

Niko - Night of Fire:

"Not a danger not a blacky stranger
Rock it - rock it - knock to my door I'll open".

Now I've heard this song about a hundred times as you all may have too, and I've also been aware of the lyrics but now since my brother made a comment on this line I feel that I should ask it now. What's with that one line?, lol, "Not a blacky stranger" I'm just curious as to what else that may translate into, it sounds a little politically incorrect and I myself am of african background. I'm not angry with the lyrics just curious what Niko meant.

Feedback please?
"Dance or Die
Running the risk
cause my heart is hung on a wire
Throw the dice
Spinning the disk
Music leading my soooul"

I'm not sure who entered that line but it does NOT sound like "blacky stranger" to me.. It sounds like a slightly garbled English word (which, given that the Italian singers don't always sing perfect English, is to be expected). It sounds closer to "not the perfect stranger" but with a slightly garbled sound to it.

The lyrics were written by Leonardi.
I guess he just meant kinda fierce-looking or black-browed man by blacky stranger because "bestia nera" (black beast) means black-browed man in Italian.

I'm sure what was meant was a shadowy figure. Not exactly a black person but a shadowy one

That's the impression I also got from the lyrics.

It's funny, I found this thread after I did this song at kareoke with some friends. My friends where all dying laughing when they saw that lyric and I'm going "I don't remember that!!!"

Thanks for clearing it up. Though, i still don't hear it how the lyrics are written. Sounds like "knocked up like a stranger" or something weird to me. But I think I will stay away from doing that song in Kareoke just so I don't have to explain it afterwards.

The lyric written as "speak my name" is garbled too, sounds like he's trying to say "Niko's my name"
