Help! Trying to ID a song from a brief partial clip
Hey all, I'm pulling my hair out trying to ID this tune that I happened across on Youtube. I'm a big fan of the genre and know most of the more common eurobeat tunes, but I've never heard this before.

Any thoughts? Thank you!

My apologies if this isn't Super Eurobeat. I'm sort of stabbing in the dark, and Shazam & other ID apps couldn't find it (not surprising).

AWESOME! Thank you! I guess it wasn't EB/SEB after all then... Still though, that's some damn fine driving musicM2-EB wrote:There you go

Well it's extremely infrequent that I run across anyone who knows about this genre, let alone the sub-genre distinctions that exist therein...Lebon14 wrote:I can't help you right now coz I'm on mobile but I have a nitpick with your comment above. "Super Eurobeat" is tbe name of the CD series. "Eurobeat" is the genre. It's weird coz you didn't make that mistake in your first post.
In terms of my knowledge about this, I sort of lump anything that sounds "Initial D-ish" under the heading "Super Eurobeat", or if I'm feeling too lazy, just "Eurobeat". Don't think I've ever had a conversation with another human about this, so that's probably why my phrasing is off.

All that being said... I got into this stuff back in 2003, when I was in the USAF and needed good running music. It just sort of stuck, and now it's just sort of my all-purpose music to get pumped up for any reason.
Or while I'm translating... I'm a linguist by trade. Don't know why but it helps me focus too. *shrug*

No problem.
Well, it is eurobeat lol that song is featured on a japanese indie compilation called "Toho Eurobeat". SEB is another compilation, the most famous. Many people know the whole genre as "Super Eurobeat" or "SEB" or "Initial D" and that limits how much information and different songs they'll find, I think (I thought it was Dance Dance Revolution music back in the day lmao). It's pretty dead in here but you surely will find people to talk about it. Another active place is IDForums, it's pretty much a sharing place but people also talk eurobeat things
I also use eurobeat for exercise and work and I really recommend it hahahaha. You can take a look at the wikipedia article about eurobeat, it's pretty complete with lots of information about the music labels and albums with other useful links as well

It's too bad that the genre doesn't get the recognition it deserves. It sort of hits the uncanny valley of music tastes though...
Like, some songs take themselves really seriously, so that people who care about lyrics can't write the silly words off as a joke (what was that one line... something about "you'll be my scrambled eggs", lol). But at the same time, other songs are so over-the-top goofy (Can Can World is amazing) that they can't be taken seriously!
I wonder... do you think maybe if they'd had a native English speaker on staff while coming up with lyrics, maybe it would have caught on more, over here in the States? Or would more proper English have ruined the songs?
I'm so confuzzled.

It was never big outside of Japan to begin with. The most famous producers and musicians are italian and people in there barely know it, from what I've seen. It's a niche music genre with a solid fanbase and that's about it. With close to zero advertising it's really hard to get new people to listen or buy it.
Eurobeat is pretty diversified, you'll find songs talking about farms, games, drinks… you name it! There's probably an eurobeat song about anything.
Non-native speakers singing in english is one of the charms IMO but if you're looking for native speakers I recommend you to take a look at
Mortimer/Ken Blast/Odyssey Eurobeat/Travis Stebbins (american producer and singer)
https://www.youtube.com/user/OdysseyEurobeat/
and Digibeat (a defunct japanese eurobeat label that hired american singers)

There's probably more but these are the ones I remember on the top of my head
