Initial D on KO and Miya

Post by Super Racing » 22 Feb 2006, 13:20

I have bought 3 Initial D cd's off Ebay. They are top quality and include the books with lyrics but they are on the KO and Miya labels.

Are these unlicensed productions of the music? I was under the belief that Avex controls everything but Saifam.

Control is a strong word, makes it sounds Avex owns the labels, anyways I believe Avex does own the licenses for songs from ABeatC, Delta, Time, SCP and Live Music in Asia... (Sym, Akyr, Fantasy, Saifam and Vibration arent monopolized by Avex) And be careful of eurobeat and other CDs on Ebay alot of times they end up being Hong Kong Imports (very realistic looking bootlegs)

After getting the first 2, I know that on ebay, unless it lists the Avex catalogue number, it is probably not Avex.

I ordered the 3rd expecting it not to be Avex because it was only $2.99. It was titled Initial D the Movie of Super Eurobeat. I ordered it because i had not seen it on CD Japan and was wondering what it was. Is this a bootleg of an Avex cd and i just missed it on CD Japan.

Control is the correct word. Avex makes it VERY difficult for those outside of Japan to obtain the music. It costs me around $30 for each cd i order off CD Japan, which is about double the cost it should be to buy a CD. However, it is better than the old days of paying $10 for each 12" record when they were avialable here in the US.

Its not really double the cost seeing as SEB is 2548yen per album now and that's currently equivalent to $21.50USD so you pay $9.50 or so for shipping if you want it really fast. And Avex did not down the price from 3059yen which is $25.81... Also things in general cost a bit more in Japan than they would in the U.S. anyways. It's not so much as they are trying to prevent outsiders from buying as so much they are using a price suitable for their market. Remember they aren't making the CDs for any market other than their own

Exactly. Their limited market makes it very hard to obtain the music other than cd japan or ebay.

Thank goodness for Saifam and their mp3's.

I order my CDs from a local asian store/market. Their prices could be less, but I'm not complaining.

I despise that Miya and KO sell CDs like that. I bought 2 from a store, just to find out they were bootlegs. I haven't bought CDs like that since.

Whenever I've wanted to buy an album, it's always been really easy and relatively cheap.. (Especially from HRG, really fast and free delivery).

eBay's really good. A lot of the time you can get them for cheaper than list price. I'd be really broke if I lived in Japan. -_-;

I wonder if avex knows how many non-japanese people have bought eurobeat?

8) I wont complain. I can get my guilty pleasures (Nickleback, Backstreet Boys, Madonna) off a used bin or Down Load, but when it comes to Eurobeat it's gotta be 100% real. I download songs that are not avaliable on CD like Love Train Extended version, There is nothing like having the original cd with booklet. Damn I miss the 90's when >I would purchase 12's like crazy!!! 8) So the price is high, but well worth it. Eurobeat is like custom made for us. :D
