The prices: $0.99 for one song or $9.99-12.99 for an album.

Shame I don't have an Ipod or use Itunes - if anywhere starts offering these as just regular mp3 downloads (like Saifam does) please let me know ;)

Yeah, I got the e-mail this morning.

So, there's no way of getting the stuff in actual MP3 format?

Just go into your iPod's drive and search for the audio files.

iTunes is 128kbit AAC/MP4 if I'm not mistaken.

AAC is more advanced than mp3, but it's not going to be a huge difference at 128kbit, I'm pretty sure iTunes allows you to convert to mp3 (with an unaviodable further quality loss), or burn to cd (keeping the "full quality" of the mp4).
Iunno why but to me you seem so ungrateful anyways
Well, it's excellent of them to have partnered with iTunes to give us an early release while they're busy producing the physical CDs, but if I were to spend money on an entire album (rather than individual songs) I'd rather wait for the full quality, since I'm psycho and like to pretend I notice the difference. i don't see anything "ungrateful" about it.

One more thing.... they are NOT intending to release the CD !! Federico told me it's easier for customers just to download the songs instead of buying CD.
By the way, ITunes lets us listen 30 seconds of every song...

Anyway, since I'm so bitter about music quality I decided to do some tests with iTunes, encoding some (original/lossless) eurobeat to their default flavor of AAC, particularily HRG stuff.

The results were much better than @Music's junk, I'd put it around 160CBR ish-mp3 quality, but that isn't saying much... the overall outcome was less than steller, when a HRG song gets busy (especially their faster/"noisier" hits) the sound noticibly distorts compared to the original, just like 128-160kbit MP3s do.

My opinion(s)

If you're happy with 128kbit mp3, you'll find these quite pleasant

If you're used to high bitrate mp3 (224-320), you'll find that these fall short

If you're a collector who enjoys jamming to eurobeat cd's on a good setup, you'll probably want to cry a bit.

I definitly won't be burned by another disappointing online purchase, but if you're not as picky as I am and want to support HRG, go ahead and buy a track or two (if you can do that), but I wouldn't encourage the practice of leaving whole albums of material in a low quality void.

Well - it is great news that Hi-nrg attack is still alive, but i would have prefered you could buy the CD too.
But, finally i have a reason to use iTunes.
