Ah, you can say that again. Only the lyrics seem different as far as the clip goes.

yeah! It's kind of cool that they're doing that again, redoing old songs in that fashion. It reminds me of the Veronica Sales versions of King & Queen's Biggest Love, and Seasons; and Juliet's Heart on Fire vs. Virginelle's Mystery of Love. ^^

The version does really sound superior to the original one, hopefully it'll get Lolita back on the track of faster actual Lolita-esque tracks.

First opinions of all songs (a little hint - see that link that valiant gave for the Lolita sample? Try changing the last 1 or 2 numbers to hear all the diff tracks, e.g. http://avexnet.or.jp/avexdb/supereurobe ... 68_004.ram to hear Go 2 - Let It Burn :D)

01. A LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT / ASYA
- they've used the speedier version which is good, but I still think this sounds pretty weak by Saifam's standards...

02. I WANNA TAKE YOU UP / LOLITA
- don't actually know where people have heard this before, but it sounds like another really strong track from Ms. Gobbi!

03. LITTLE DON / THE FACTORY TEAM
- like Bazookistan only 10 times better!! Look out HRG - Saifam are after your crown...

04. LET IT BURN / GO 2
- back to the fast-paced action style for Go 2, but this sample failed to leave a lasting impression on me - the vocal line seemed a bit laboured, but the synth hook showed some promise...

05. LONELY NIGHT 2006 / HELENA
- sounds like a pretty cool speedy remake for this track - the synth line sounds tight and all in all it has a fresh sound

06. I LOVE YOU FOREVER / NUAGE
- bizarrely enough, this reminds me of the 80s-style tracks on 163 - quite a slow song with a pleasant chorus and more modern sounding synth hook

07. CRAZY & READY / PHIL
- this is basically identical in style to Only For Love Only For You, so if you liked that you'll love this...

08. STOP TEASING MY HEART / CHERRY
- wow, just WOW! Cherry follows up the ace Bang Bang with this fast-paced anthem with a mega-strong bass beat and hot synth line - sounds excellent!

09. EUROHERO / NEO
- awww, Neo has a cute quality to his vocals, like he's trying to be all tough but slightly failing! This sounds great though, with lots of "Woahs" and an interesting synth hook

10. BE THE ONE / MR.M
- quite a pleasant sounding track that is fairly typical of the label's style really...

11. THIS LOVE / LESLIE PARRISH
- definitely overshadowed by Clara's other track on here, this sounds a bit sparse to be honest with the bass overpowering the weak synths...

12. BLACK IS THE NIGHT / NICK KEY
- lots of energy and guitars and acid-style synths here, as the song title would suggest - interested to hear the full version of this...

13. OVER THE RAINBOW / BLACK EVA
- the vocals on this track have the same quality as Pun Pun Beam but aren't quite as helium. Production is typical HRG - this sounds nice...

14. HURRICANE / NICK MANSELL
- "Hurricane, baby I'm a hurricane....Hurricane, nothing ever stays the same..." - hmmm, not overly sure about this one, it sounds okay but a bit unoriginal if anything

15. SWITCH! / MELISSA WHITE & ACE
- ooooh, now this one has a really unique groove to it with the piano backing, chugging bassline and melodic eurotrance style synth hook - can't wait to hear the rest!

16. TAKE ME FOREVER / DIGITAL PLANET
- not the best song that Digital Planet have come up with - it sounds a little old to be honest, although I'm not their biggest fan it has to be said...

17. VODKA / MAD COW AND THE ROYAL EUROBEAT ORCHESTRA OF BAZOOKISTAN
- "Vodka! Vodka! Play the balalaika! Oh yeah, a drinker! Dance and lose control!!" This is classic HRG, but teamed with one of their most successful recent productions - yes, the trumpets from Bazookistan are back!!

18. RAIN / CHRISTINE
- I can't seem to take to this track - the synth annoys me for some reason, but it's listenable I guess - just sounds like a bit of a deflation as a last track...

So yeah, cannot wait for this album now, especially for the full versions of Stop Teasing My Heart, Switch! and Vodka - looks like another great 160. Expect a full album review when I've heard the full length tracks ;)

As people already pointed out. It's the same track as Valentina & Mirka - Shake Me Up. Just with new lyrics and such....

Considering it's not even an Asia Records track of course it's not going to sound like their usual eurobeat. Hell I doubt Saifam even made this song with the thought of it being licensed for SEB. Then again japanese labels are weird. Look at Jenny Rom being licensed for Farm's Mega Trance 05

yeah it seems they posted all the demos...on their website (url the ditz posted doesn't seem to work bleh). Kinda odd...oh well, All I have to say is I thoroughly enjoy this album and definitely am willling to purchase it! So much speed and power in the tracks in which it sounds very appealing. The only tracks I really say I do not see myself growing inclined toward is "This Love" and Mr.M's track. Vodka sounds very very appealing...as well as Switch! and Black In the Night. I am hoping that Let It Burn's demo doesn't give the song half the justice. Sounds a tad "Ace-ish" again

And since when were Ace tracks a bad thing?

reviewing samples of seb 168

Post by Vadim » 19 May 2006, 17:57

Great review from the Ditz.
I'l just give it all a bit of my bias, for variety...eh..?

01. A LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT / ASYA
I like.

02. I WANNA TAKE YOU UP / LOLITA
I.C.L.T.T. (I can't listen to this). Why not just produce another dream
teen tune for Denise D.V. instead of regurgitating old sour grapes..?

03. LITTLE DON / THE FACTORY TEAM
No good. Being an ukrainian,I can't speak for Mother Russia, but someone should tell these ppl to buy a cd with more than one russian folk song.
*Kalinka* ain't the only ru-folk gem u may exploit without paying royalties..

04. LET IT BURN / GO 2
I like this tune, besides *can u feel ze burn..?*
Though lead synth line be here annoin'.

05. LONELY NIGHT 2006 / HELENA
Sucked then,suckes now.I.C.L.T.T.

06. I LOVE YOU FOREVER / NUAGE
I like this. I like a lot of Denise's tunes,in fact. Denise motivates Dave
to write decent girl melodies every once in a while. We need Denise.

07. CRAZY & READY / PHIL
Ain't my cup o'tee tis'be...
They should play this song when Punxsutawney Phil's comes out of his burow to see if his shadow scares him. This be cheesy.Tis what I call *boring pwl*. Why can't some cool and exciting pwl song inspire Time writers? I don't know, perhaps listen to *together-forever* from Rick Astley..?

08. STOP TEASING MY Hair / CHERRY
I says *nay* to this song. Better to bring in Bratt to write Cherry tunes.

09. EUROHERO / NEO
lottsa noise with no depth or substance whatsoever. Nay to this. Tis'be boring.

10. BE THE ONE / MR.M
So-so does it.
Variation on a familiar theme...not smthg I'd have much in my headphones.

11. THIS LOVE / LESLIE PARRISH
We got a HIT,ladies & gentelmen!
This song is magical.
I want more of your stuff,Bratt!!!
Oresama, please, talk to the man. We need more chick tunes from Bratt
Pronto!

12. BLACK IS THE NIGHT / NICK KEY
I.C.L.T.T.
Forcefull and punchy sound fails to carry this tune,as it's crippled by utterly boring melody. I'd rather knit sweaters with my grandmother than listen to this.

13. OVER THE RAINBOW / BLACK EVA
Oh yeah,I like this! Accatino can write really great chick tunes with strong
feel of real hi nrg music when he's in a mood. I wish I knew how to get him in this mood more often. Real power from HRG is in songs with
melodies like this!

14. HURRICANE / NICK MANSELL
U guessed it,I.C.L.T.T. All the wind being passed, but still ain't no hurricane in this teacup. this is so not, like, exciting..

15. SWITCH! / MELISSA WHITE & ACE
cool melody.I like this,indeed!
I deslike duetts, and I feel that Codenotti could carry this track by himself
without extra baggage, even with adding fantastic female vocal like this.
I like this melody and energy much.Castagna and Codenotti can be powerfull in writing tunes. I thank them for making it possible for me to enjoy some mucho tunes, at least.

16. TAKE ME FOREVER / DIGITAL PLANET
I.C.L.T.T. This can work well as a sedative.

17. VODKA / MAD COW AND THE ROYAL EUROBEAT ORCHESTRA OF BAZOOKISTAN
That'l do o.k. for surprising your cat(see Monty Piton F.C. for refference).

18. RAIN / CHRISTINE
Melody is a definite nod to j-pop,song sounds more like eurobeat cover of smthng. That's not necessarily a good thing.

I'd get this album for myself. It's rather good.
This SEB's cover can be pretty usefull in scaring nosy neighbors.

I never said ace style tracks was bad, I am just stating that this go2 sounds ace-ish again due to the fact that there was an ace-ish go2 track in the album before this (Music Come on)

Why wouldn't Go2 sound Ace-ish considering he is one of the members. I'm glad they are not just making Fastway styled tracks because then that would just boring.

OMG! There are two covers on this album!! The first one is I Wanna Take You Up which is a cover of Shake Me Up; and then there's Vodka, which is a cover of every single Hi-NRG Attack song ever produced! haha

Crazy & Ready is my song, just because the singer's name is my name =3

I listened to all the previews, and unfortunately I'm quite disappointed more than excited now... My mind is boggled about I Wanna Take You Up; instead of 'covering' it why didn't they make Shake Me Up a 2006 remix? :( That's quite disappointing to say the least... and I'm definately asking about that. XD

The Nuage song is making me fall asleep... Stop Teasing My Heart sounded a lot better live... Switch reminds me of the kind of music they play in the gay bars here; the song that every guy in the place would run to the dance floor to dance. XD

I just hope it's the quality of these samples that disappointing me, not the actual songs. lol Oh well~
