I'm really impressed by your long long debate.
Also in Japan many anti-eurobeaters claim that eurobeat is nothing but shit
because it has no message (or propaganda?) in it and it's just a money-driven music.
I wish you could knock their socks off on Japanese BBS. :P

 Edit: political was unnecessary.

Heh, I thought the SEB 169 topic was more impressive... less than a week before it's even released and it's already reached 8 pages

Jeez if people think music without a political message is shit, then they've just thrown out like... 90% or more of all music  Let them listen to "State Of The Nation" or "Black Or White" if they want eurobeat with a political message :P
Thanks!!!! You're right, that's fantastic!! Is there any more stuff like this?
As far as Pete Hammond remixes go, that's the only one I have :( The rest of the J-Euro VCD contains remixes mainly from Time, A Beat C and Delta and some from Y&Co, B4 Za Beat and New Generation. So if you've ever heard eurobeat remixes from them before, you know what to expect[/quote]

i actually thing that remix sounds a lot like Gelmetti's style, listen to the beats in the song itself, very similar to Shy Gun

That's cause ODA = copy of "DOA" style = SAW/PWL production.

Listen to "You Spin Me Round," the arrangement is just like "Shy Gun".

But for sure Mr. Newfield is very good at copying the SAW/PWL styles.

I know it's not the point of this thread but that is the best song on PPP J-Euro, the best routine, and Richie is the one that dances it, could you ask for more? 8)

Does anyone think that Eurobeat is beginning to lose some steam? It's worrying and annoying me because it's like people are going, "Alright, that was cool back in it's day, now let's go listen to something else already."

And you just KNOW you've got a serious problem when the major imported of EB is beginning to get fed up with it.

Coupled with the little-to-no following anywhere else, it's a "you against the rest of the world" situation now, it looks like.

I can't help feeling like I'm sitting on a treasure chest on a deserted island.

Yep, that's probably the best "DOA"-style track I ever heard.

All music has a philosophy behind it, in a way you can call it political, politics refers to a lot of things beyond Government and who you vote for. Or maybe we'll just call it "message" now that oresama edited his post.

With Eurobeat, the idea is that you can literally create things yourself. This is the opposite of "naturalism" where you capture the world as it is. So it would be linked with individualism and capitalism. However, it doesn't ever attempt to shove that down your throat, it just exists for pleasure.

If you look at some of today's music (Kayne West, Eminem) the (political) message is overt. Going back, you could also look at Rage Against the Machine or something, or earlier some Pink Floyd stuff. With other music it's sometimes obvious, or the message comes as part of strong links with some movement or other, or part of the "act", or there isn't one (purpose=have fun and sell records). But if you find there isn't one, then you might find that music is derided by the so-called "cognoscenti" as well.

Or maybe some people simply have a distaste for Eurobeat and other styles, so they try to come up with reasons why it sucks, but they know nothing about music so they come up with some complete crap.

:( That's a shame. It was nice to hear an "updated" PWL sound, I wish there were more tracks like this one!

I present this question to you all.

Why? Why do so many people seem to have an deep dislike for Eurobeat? It's like a plague.

So same views floating around in Japan? I wonder why it hasn't completely destroyed this music there.

I'd be glad to do that if I could speak Japanese! <fires up steamroller> :D
