Tokyo Auto Salon 2011 presents Evolution #07

Post by para_rigby » 26 Aug 2011, 04:22

So I found this on the Japanese iTunes store under "eurobeat"...and if I'm not crazy, the 2nd disc seems to have some familiar singers on it

-Womanizer/ Clara Moroni
-Bad Romance/ Gaudy Gaudy (cannot tell if it could be The Snake or Jager)
-Right Round (familiar too)
-I Dreamed A Dream/ Leroybrown (definitely seems like Ace)

Anyone else listen to this album?

Yeah... I don't really care for rock, but they do seem familiar.

Gaudy Gaudy is def The Snake, Leroy Brown is Ace, evo-X has Fastway and I want to say the singer of The Snake, Stride Kid is also The Snake most likely. The other alias sound like The Snake as well.

Now that's interesting - apparently, some of these tracks were released as early as February 2010! They're all part of an Avex project called RE ROCK FACTORY. You can listen to some of the tracks in full versions on the website.

Judging by the vocalists, the labels involved are Delta, SCP and (I think) SinclaireStyle:

CRAZY IN LOVE / BIG FIGHTERS - Luca Torchiani singing, not sure about the female rapper - could be Elisa (Queen 26)
BILLIE JEAN / MYSTIC BLUEYEZ - sounds like Daniela Rando (Emmannuelle) to me
THRILLER / THE SENTENCE - Jager?
TIK TOK / ANGEL TRIBE - Hotblade
BOOM BOOM POW / e-vox - Hotblade, AliX and Fastway?
RIGHT ROUND / STRIDE KID - the female vocalist sounds like Roberta Grana, which would mean this is a Sinclaire production - though I have no idea who the rapper could be (Sinclaire himself? :D)
I DREAMED A DREAM / LEROY BROWN - definitely Ace
HUNG UP / ANGEL TRIBE - Hotblade
BAD ROMANCE / GAUDY GAUDY - The Snake
POKER FACE / DEXTER SPIKE - sounds sooo familiar, though I can't for the life of me pinpoint the vocalist right now... ><

LOL! This is hilarious! I actually kinda dig the sleazy vinyl sleeves, but save for the two jacko covers, these gotta be some of the worst Pop songs ever to cover. If you wanna hear a decent Pocker face cover, listen to Daughtry. As for Right Round..That's nothing but a Dead Or Alive rip off.

My respects to Cheeseman for deciphering these vocals. I would have never guessed them to be Eurobeat vocalists without that prior knowledge.

I f I did iTunes; which I don't, I would probobly purchase "Thriller" for it's cool guitar hook and Leroy Brown's "I Dreamed A Dream", but Boom Boom Pow, Tik Tok? Geeze What was AVEX thinking.

Thank Goodness HRG Attack, Dima,Dall Ora and Dave Rodgers passed up on this project. If you are gonna do Rock, Cover Rock. Like those cd comps a few years back, covering VanHalen and Motley Crue. Those were great.

To sum things up...BITCHIN' Vinyl Slleves, but that's pretty much it. :P

Hell, I would like to really buy these songs. I sent a message to the SCP facebook page in hopes they could do that. Far fetched, but I love the covers....
