Small review of SEB155

Post by Nine » 24 Feb 2005, 12:37

I got my hands on some of the songs from SEB155. I'm still waiting for my copy to arrive, but I'm going to review the songs I have heard.

1. Kevin Johnson - Don't Say Goodbye
9 out of 10
I'm not that big a fan of Kevin Johnson's anything, but this song is really well done. I believe it's a cover, but I'm not sure because I've never heard the song before. Clara in the background is nice too. :)

4. Cherry - Euroheat
10 out of 10
I really prefer Clara Moroni when she sings more serious, passionate songs, but this song is SO catchy. I don't really have anything to say about the quality of vocals or how well the music was produced, but this song still has that (some would say old now, LOL) "Super Eurobeat" sound, which is nice to hear amoungs all this talk of "cool and pop." ^^;

5. Giacomo Caria - Light My Fire
8 out of 10
BTW, this review is based on me thinking this has Dave's vocals. If it doesn't then I'm sorry. XD
I'm not that big of a fan of Dave's vocals, but this song doesn't have that boring repetitive sound of his other songs. Maybe that's why he didn't call it a "Dave Rodgers" song, because it's actually pretty good! XD

7. Poo Poo Girls - Baby Boy
-10000000000000000 out of 10
As you may be able to tell, I don't like this song. :P First, I will tell you two reasons why, then I'll give it a review.
1. I know Domino has left ABeatC, but with each Go Go Girls and King & Queen song slated for a new SEB always brings a slight chance of her vocals. In this song, this isn't the case.
2. I know Nuage is a good singer, and I do enjoy some of her songs, but her voice, in my opinion, has no place in any Go Go Girls songs. Yes, I know that the alias is used with all the ABeatC female singers, but still.
The song has recycled bits of Running To The Night thrown in it, which wasn't one of Nuage's great songs. It's really weird to hear recycled things in current Eurobeat... well at least it is to me. The only good thing going for this song is that it still keeps that sound of "Super Eurobeat," which is always nice. Though, I am bias for my review, as this was called a "Go Go Girls" song. If it was (Any other alias) - Baby Boy, then I wouldn't be so harsh. XD

14. Virginelle - Love Is...
9 out of 10
Edit: After listening to the song over a few more times, I realised that it's more deserving of a higher mark than 8. Though, I will still leave my original review here. :)
I was excited to hear that there was going to be a new Virginelle song, and from hearing the preview on the SEB site it sounded like it was going to be great. Though... it isn't one of the best Virginelle songs out there. It sounds like a poor attempt at an original Disney song. ^^; Though, it does have it's good qualities. The music is awesomely produced, with a catchy beat, and Elena's vocals are perfect like always. It was a nice try, and if this wasn't a Virginelle song it would have gotten a much lower review on my part.

15. Pamsy - Hello
10+++++++++ out of 10
Dancing Alone was cool, Livin' In The Night was alright, but Hello is what I'm talking about. Quoting my friend who sent me the song, this is more Eurobeat than Dancing Alone and more Trance than Livin' In The Night. This song is the perfect blend of Eurobeat and Trance, without stepping to far out of the genre. Great great great vocals too, the best from her previous two songs. :) I doubt that any of the other songs on this album will be better than Hello, and even though I'm horribly disappointed over Baby Boy, I'm glad I bought the album just because of this excellent song.

---

There you have it. My thoughts and opinions on almost-half the album. ;) When I get the album in my posession I will add in reviews for the rest of the song. Though, from hearing these tracks, 155 has to be the best so far from 151-155. ;)
