How Many Eurobeat songs in exisitence?
With the Suroer Eurobeat series coming to a close, I was wondering, has anyone ever taken the TIME to tally, how many Eurobeat songs were provided to us through out the years? If I go back to 1987 and take "Boom Boom Dollars" as the song to start with? I mean it is the core sound of Eurobeat. I would safely say we have more than 1,000,000 songs out there, I'm taking into account all ythe series like SEB, Eurobeat Flash, Eauromach, Euro panic, majaraja Night and all the unreleased songs from the catalog.
Has anyone done a tally?

Not counting fan-made Eurobeat songs, I'm guessing there's at least 3500 songs.
...But I'm sure completely wrong on that. Hell, the only reason I know there's over 3000 is because I've kept a private list of what compilations I've listened to, also counting the number of (New) songs for each of them.

Re: How Many Eurobeat songs in exisitence?
That's a pretty low estimate. Looking at only the lyrics database from eurobeat-prime you can see that there are currently 4332 lyrics in the database.AL19 wrote: 22 Dec 2017, 10:16Not counting fan-made Eurobeat songs, I'm guessing there's at least 3500 songs.
I wouldn't go as far to say that there are 1,000,000 songs if we ONLY go by eurobeat without taking Italo-Disco-like songs into the selection then I'd say that there are around 10,000-20,000 eurobeat songs (accounting the unreleased ones too) in the world (not considering fan made, doujins, etc).
Since Bore is the admin here he can give you a rough estimate for the songs in the album database (not only the ones whose lyrics are available).
Performing a simple SQL-SELECT DISTINCT with joining the releases together should give us a number.
Otherwise if Bore doesn't know how to do that (I'm sure he knows) then I can write a simple program to fetch every artist and song from the website and list them.
.... I got bored and scripted something quickly

I'm certain that there are some non-eurobeat songs in there too but most of them should be eurobeat.
This list does not put remixes on the same entry/occurence row!!

Isn't better to scroll the mouse throughout every section of the Excel catalogue ?
We will get estimated and simultaneously enough detailed number of songs.
Eurobeat Prime is leaky, too much focused on CDs, not tracks.
Discogs is too complicated and overall to count this.
3 or 4 labels exceeded 1000 songs, we would not have...... 1 000 000 even after next 100 years.

I believe you helped yourself the catalogue exactly.Rain197 wrote: 22 Dec 2017, 12:37 More than 7150 !

Italo Disco has 11 000 titles and was making within only maximum 7 years using slower computers, and most of these tracks were just singles, not a content of long-term compilations, so not on order...

This sheet is a project, I took the cheeseman catalogue and added all the missing SEB songs.Crockett wrote: 22 Dec 2017, 18:23 I believe you helped yourself the catalogue exactly.

I wanted to add columns about the mood of the song, what it's talking about (cars, love, power, dance, ...)

Your spreadsheet includes eurock track so they can't be counted towards the total.

"Eurock" isn't a genre. It's just Rock / Hard Rock.para_rigby wrote: 23 Dec 2017, 19:01 Your spreadsheet includes eurock track so they can't be counted towards the total.

It’s not a genre, but just a term used for rock music done by people who also do eurobeat. Never said it was a genre.Lebon14 wrote: 23 Dec 2017, 21:59"Eurock" isn't a genre. holy jesus. 1,000,000? that's a lot for just one genre of music
what's more mind blowing is they pump these songs out of their asses every few months in a year, so that's a LOT of songs!

Have you read the other posts? One million is way, way, way too much. I'd estimate catalogued eurobeat tracks to be more around 10k songs.johnjohnjohnnycake wrote: 25 Dec 2017, 21:43 holy jesus. 1,000,000? that's a lot for just one genre of music

Re: How Many Eurobeat songs in exisitence?
1,000 000 seems so little in money wise now a days. that's why it seemed reasonable Eurobeat wise. 10k on the other hand seems so little bit.
Re: How Many Eurobeat songs in exisitence?
I said "catalogued". By that, I mean that those are songs released on CD, vinyl. Of course, if you start adding the non-catalogues eurobeat remixes that are all over youtube... it's much more. Heck, I wouldn't even go over 50k even with the non-catalogued. Also note that western culture haven't really got the opportunity to buy eurobeat until the late 90's. At that point, Initial D first stage was pretty much finished. Second Stage was getting there. But Initial D didn't get that popular until maybe 2004 and it only got way off the ground until very recently... Doujin eurobeat didn't really start until 2008-2009. Yeah. You see where I'm going with this.drnrg wrote: 26 Dec 2017, 02:10 1,000 000 seems so little in money wise now a days. that's why it seemed reasonable Eurobeat wise. 10k on the other hand seems so little bit.
Oh, in this, I don't count italo-disco or "transitional" eurobeat (1987-1990).
