Probably most publicised on the last set of HRG Attack albums, and being standard fare on many house/eurobeat vinyls ... what are they? are they just random/for-fun bonuses? or do they serve some sort of mixing/professional purpose?
From the ones I've been able to hear I can't really tell, they vary widely in style and I can't really pick up on any consistant feature between them.
They're all interesting none the less, and some are almost better than the original song ... which leaves me wondering about this.
What exactly is a "Last Mix"?

I believe, that couldn't be furthur from the truth. Usually Last Mixes were made to assist djs on Vinyl for remixing with all the extra beats and what not. They would finish the Extended Mix and then remove elements in the song such as the main synths, and/or the background beat. Sometimes they would replace instruments with others to make it sound different. Sort of like a stripped-down remix, which may not exactly be like a B4 Za Beat Remix or a Y&Co, but just something different to listen to.alquix wrote:last mixes are final versions of songs before they are extended out another 3 minutes or so

last mix
last mix or last version is a light version of the song, maybe no drums, only sinths and melodics parts to help people understand the real song without the bumping sounds.
I started doing that at the end of a busy mixing day to give my poor ears a little rest!
