Reviews: Back to Index

The albums have been graded on the most common grading system used in Finnish schools. Where 4 is the worst, and 10 is the best. The final score for the album is most of the times the average for all of the tracks, though it can also change if the reviewer wishes so. The Super Eurobeat Non-Stop albums will be reviewed as full collections, and the individual songs won't be reviewed, unless they are completely new. Though Euromach and JGTC albums for example will have complete song by song reviews.
The grading system simply goes as ie. 4- (3,75), 4 (4), 4+ (4,25) and 4½ (4,5) and the next one again would be 5-. A simple system we have over here in Finland.

1.Franz "Mad Cow" Tornado & The Bazooka Girls - Suck-A-Bazooka (HI-NRG Attack)
So a new album series kicks off, and with what energy. Franz Tornado is known for extremely energetic and catchy songs and he is here again to make us move. A great start.
Rating : 9

2.Jungle Bill - Shake Me Up (HI-NRG Attack)
Well this track sounds like a straight continue to the previous track. Is Franz Tornado doing the vocals for this one as well or am I just getting old and hear everything incorrectly? A great great song.

3.Toby Ash - Love And Fever Tonight (Time)
The good thing with this series seems to be that it combines all of the labels into a mix and it's interesting to see how it works. A nice song, that shines in particular with the sounds, not a brilliant melody but it does its job well.

4.Alvin - Shocking Fever (Boom Boom Beat)
Ah Boom Boom Beat, a nice introduction to Super Eurobeat albums, they should also add Saifam's Interdance Records artists to the albums as well, so well they'd go along with eurobeat. Well anyways back to this song, a nice song with a specially catchy melody. The vocals aren't very special, but as the song itself is good they go along well.

5.Tomas Lee - Midnight (SCP)
Another vocalist who sounds like Fastway, what's up with the male vocalists of SCP, are they all related or what? Well the song isn't a whole lot like Fastway's song otherwise so it is even remotely recognizable. A mediocore song at all levels, could be better.

6.Mel & Kim - Go Go To Heaven (SCP)
Oh wow, this kind of songs are exactly the thing why I love eurobeat so much. An awesome song at every level there is. Excellent lyrics, excellent vocals, an awesome melody that has truckloads of little jigs to it that make me love this song a whole lot. Also this is one of the best SCP productions ever, but the question is: who are Mel & Kim? They sure sound a lot like Kiki & Kika, too bad that this song wasn't released as a 12'' (?).
Rating : 10

7.Doctor Stranger - Touch Me Baby (SCP)
After the awesome display of Mel & Kim this great song somehow feels pretty lousy actually. The problem with great songs is that other 'good' songs feel just mediocore after them. Well anyway here's _again_ a new male vocalist that sounds like Fastway. Seriously, is there just one guy doing all of the vocals on this label?

8.Cindy - Gucci Girl (HI-NRG Attack)
Ah more of this happy mood, I am so the right person to purchase Euromach albums. The mood of these albums is ideal for my music taste over all, and I've already noticed that these albums are definitely a great way to make you feel good. Oh and also, a great song again by everyone's favorite label.
Rating : 9

9.Leslie Hammond - Move In The Nite (HI-NRG Attack)
The difference between the eurobeat labels comes extremely visible when put to the same album like here. The productions differ a lot and you can easily notice how the artists from the same label have many similarities, but HI-NRG Attack somehow manages to avoid that loophole, the songs are all positive and happy, but they have different kind of sounds which makes the label rise above the rest. Again a great song.
Rating : 9

10.Christine - It's A Beautiful Life (SCP)
Wow, Christine has estabilished a solid ground on my favorite eurobeat names, and this time she moves into a different kind of direction. Her songs are always happy and catchy but this song has a different sound to it. Excellent vocals and a great c-melody.
Rating : 9-

11.Rocky - Nightmare (SCP)
This is starting to be kind of amusing, here we have another SCP male who again sounds like Fastway. I am not going to comment on this again on the future, but seriously it feels odd. A rather good song, but it's lacking something to make it stand out from the crowd. As it is, it's a nice song to listen to every now and while but not one of those songs you could loop for hours.
Rating : 8

12.Jungle Bill - Laser Gun (HI-NRG Attack)
This was one of the first eurobeat songs I heard ages ago, and it did leave a mark on my memory. A nice song that suffers from mediocore vocals, otherwise the song works marvellously, also the lyrics are rather fun, which is common for this label.
Rating :  8½

13.Tri-Star - Ike Ike (HI-NRG Attack)
Well this song brings nothing but good memories for me. I remember seeing a ParaPara video ages ago about this track and I remember wondering about the strange music playing at the background (at the time I didn't know practically anything about eurobeat). A catchy song that probably almost everybody who is into eurobeat remembers.
Rating : 9+

14.Debbie Key - Day By Day (Boom Boom Beat)
Boom Boom Beat is a label that differs from the other labels the most probably (as they are discriminated a whole lot, and they only get a few songs here and there). Not the best BBB songs we've heard but over all very cheery and nice to listen to.
Rating : 8+

15.Tracy - Lovers (Boom Boom Beat)
Tracy's vocals remind me a lot about Laurie from EuroPanic 1 and 5, though Tracy's song is much more mediocore than Laurie's was. A rather common song which doesn't really lighten me up either way.
Rating :

16.Kiki & Kika - Jungle Night (SCP)
The ever so cheery duo is back here. With a nice song, and like before their lyrics are quite odd. Great vocals and great melody, nothing to change the world or anything, just to make you feel good. And that these two know how to do.
Rating : 9+

17.Marko Polo - Speedy Speed Boy (Delta)
Well Delta is also represented on this album, and to my surprise they throw in a great song by Marko Polo. I'm not a huge fan of his, but this song is rather awesome. Great lyrical work and a nice melody.
Rating : 9-

18.Baby Gold - Memories Of Love (HI-NRG Attack)
Din Don Dan... I love the way the mixers mix in older classic tracks. Baby Gold is a nice act, only if the vocalist was able to sing. Her voice always sounds like she was forced to do it, and she was resisting as much as she could. Not the best song either, but you gotta love the Din Don Dan clip.

19.Christine-N. Joy - Lovin' You Lovin' Me (SCP)
Another Christine song on this album? Woo! Well this time it's again with a totally different sound to it. Not as catchy as the previous track, but the chorus succeeds to create a nice mood to it.
Rating : 8-

20.Nikita Jr. - Saturday Night (HI-NRG Attack)
Nikita Jr. along with a couple of other female vocalists has been the biggest reasons why I fell in love with eurobeat. So far Nikita Jr. has produced only awesome tracks and this one is one of the best tracks, really catchy and excellent sounds. Over all one of the best songs on the album.

21.Garcon - Yacchaa Boi (HI-NRG Attack)
Sometimes this had to happen didn't it? The first time I don't really care for a HI-NRG Attack song. Garcon has been rather mediocore all the time but this time this track just doesn't work at all. The song isn't bad or anything, but it just doesn't contain anything special to make it memorable.
Rating : 7+

22.Ken Martin - Bad World (Boom Boom Beat)
This song has a serious eurodance tone to it. The sounds and the vocals (including the background vocals) are really identical to some eurodance act I just can't exactly remember. But the moment this song started playing I had a Deja Vu-feeling.
Rating : 8+

23.Jeff Driller - Foxy Lady (HI-NRG Attack)
Woop, I love the feeling of being totally surprised by a song. Jeff Driller was a familiar name from the Eurobeat Flashes and I didn't really love him back then, so I was really surprised when this song started playing. A really effective song and the lyrics in the chorus are absolutely awesome. His voice sounds really sexy when he sings the 'Foxy Lady' part.
Rating : 9+

24.Niko - Made Of Fire (Delta)
Well this is an interesting album indeed, no A-Beat C anywhere in sight and actually two rather good Delta tracks on it. Can't complain at least. Where as Niko isn't the best singer around, this song works well. Specially the chorus is extra effective.

25.Dave McLoud - Mikado (SCP)
More of the same material. This track sounds good for the first two or three times, then you get a sudden feel that it's really boring. I don't know where's the problem, perhaps it's just too normal in every sense. No new sounds and the vocals aren't very catchy.
Rating : 8-

26.Franz Tornado & The "Mad Cow" Girls - Bandolero Comanchero (HI-NRG Attack)
An album that starts with Franz Tornado and ends with the same act can't go very wrong. A great performer and awesome songs as usual. A really catchy song, that really doesn't make any sense but does it really matter? Still very very catchy.
Rating : 9+

Final Words :
An interesting starter for a new series. This album is packed full of good songs, there are a couple of high points and a couple of low points but in general it's really high quality. It was interesting to see an album without any A-Beat C artists and as it seems, the album was probably better off without them. Really marvellous work by Avex. Let's hope this series keeps its level up in the future as well.
