Super Eurobeat 131
1.Go Go Girls - Baby I'm Your Lady (A-Beat C)
Can't think of a much better intro for an album, the
Go Go Girls
keep their high standards up and blast the album into action with a cover
from
Passion. The original song was good over all, but this version
is a whole lot better, the backgrounds are typical eurobeat but when the
song is as great as this one they work very well. And of course awesome
vocals by
G. Frattini, definitely one of the best tracks on this
album.
Rating : 10-
2.Oda - Sex Crime (Delta)
Oda has done his own thing for quite a while now and this song
really is an excellent sample of how variable eurobeat can be.
Oda's
vocals are perfectly suitable for eurobeat and the lyrics are very sexy.
Overall an amazing performance and one of the most memorable eurobeat
songs thorough the music's history.
Rating : 10
3.Rose - Rainy Days (Time)
Rose's songs go pretty much up and down like a yo-yo and this time
the yo-yo is heading upwards. The song kicks off slowly but then an
amazing melody kicks off and
Rose's strong vocals make the track
sound plain awesome. The chorus is really pretty even though the lyrics
are your typical love-song trash, but that's irrelevant.
Rating : 8½
4.Norma Sheffield - Sweet Love (A-Beat C)
Our good old
Norm' is back with a new hit. Like the previous track
also this one starts out very calmly, but after a while it kicks into
action and reveals its claws. The song isn't exactly very speedy but it's
got a solid eurobeat beat and the vocals back up the rather transperent
backgrounds very well. Not her best, nor worst.
Rating : 8+
5.Lou Turner - Mystic Love (Time)
A bit more unknown title for me, so I didn't really know what to expect
with this track, I was positively surprised. A good male vocalists always
brightens up the rainy day and also when the song is as kick-ass as this
one you can't be anything but delighted. A great chorus and nice
backgrounds.
Rating : 8+
6.Dolores - Someone Precious (Delta)
An interesting intro with cool sounding playing with the vocals and
backgrounds, the song starts out with an excellent synth solo and when the
beat is added along the song really gets awesome. A very energetic song
and a powerful chorus add up making this an excellent song.
Rating : 9+
7.Powerful T. - Fly To Me Baby (A-Beat C)
Ooo wow, guitars in the intro, who would've guessed this is A-Beat C? The
vocals go quite freakily up and down and at first sound pretty awful, but
after you get used to them they start sounding pretty great. A very
memorable song due to the vocals and that's a good thing, a great chorus
and the good old A-Beat C elements here and there.
Rating : 9
8.Mike West - Move To The Grooving (Boom Baby)
(Time)
A rather blues-y song, the backgrounds give the song a rather distinct
athmosphere and the female background vocalist really gives this song a
nice boost. With a female vocalist this song would've been pure awesome,
now it's above the average and just outside of the 'very good' rank.
Rating : 8½
9.Mega NRG Man - In The Flame Of Fire (A-Beat C)
A female singing in the song? Well that doesn't happen very often with
Mega NRG Man, even if it's only for a short period it still did make
me gasp if I was actually listening to the right artist. The song adds up
to the long list of fire-songs and is actually one of the best ones imho,
a very great chorus makes this one rise above the rest.
Rating : 9-
10.Pizza Girl - Lucky Star (Delta)
The ever so magnificent
Pizza Girl is here again, she really should
get more songs released. The song starts out with almost acapella singing
but when the synth and beat are added we get a real treat. The song is
really cheery and
Pizza Girl's vocals sound just perfect. A nice
sing-along song.
Rating : 9+
11.Dave & Karen - Contact (A-Beat C)
With
Dave & X duets the real problem generally is that
Dave
hogs all of the vocals for himself and makes the duets almost sound like
only his songs. This song is pretty similar to them but the best part is
that Karen actually gets to sing quite a lot, it's nice to hear them
singing in sync and the song gets a huge boost if you listen to it a lot,
one of the best duets
Dave has done. I just love the c-melody after
the chorus, really this song is *that* good.
Rating : 9+
12.Sheila - Everyday & Everynight (Time)
I was kind of mislead with
Sheila here, I thought she was an
Eurobeat Masters artist but apparently not? Or then I'm missing
something here. With that presumption I was expecting an awesome song as
EM has released some classic jewels like
Judy Crystal's every song.
This is a Time release though and not as catchy as the songs EM generally
produce. At first it's the c-melody that hooks you up and as you listen to
the song more all of the other parts of the song start to sound good as
well, a nice performance by the mischiveous artist.
Rating : 9-
13.Monique - Time Is On My Side (A-Beat C)
A calm intro like with so many others blasts into energy quickly and
Monique does her best to make the song distinctive. This is not the
best song on the album but it's a very great song on the standard of
melody and sounds but the vocals seem a bit umm... bad.
Rating : 8½
14.Casanova - Same Old Feeling (Delta)
A nice intro with calm male vocals (well it's
Casanova after
all...), the song is pretty speedy and I still feel it has to be
Marko
Polo doing the vocals for this title. Anyways the best part with this
title is that the vocals are very high level even if this song isn't the
best composition around. Great vocals and great backgrounds still manage
to make a real impact.
Rating : 9-
15.Sophie - Lovely Passion (Time)
A pretty American sort of intro turns out to be your typical eurobeat song.
This song was later shamelessly copied to
Monique's "
Lovely
Tango" the songs sound very much alike and if these two fought it
would be the latter one winning. This song is the worst track on the album
and it's not a very good performance by
Sophie either.
Rating : 8-
16.Leslie Parrish - One Kiss (Delta)
Leslie Parrish has been titled the queen of eurobeat in a couple of
sources I've seen, and she really has the talent and the skills to get
this (but if you ask me it's
G. Frattini who earns that title). But
about this song... the song starts out with a cool sound and seems rather
calm but after a minute it gets more energetic and it's
Leslie's
vocals that separate this song from for example the previous
Sophie
song, a very good performance in the end.
Rating : 9-
17.Matt Land - Kiss Me Before Midnight (A-Beat C)
Yay
Matt Land is here again. An oh boy what he has to offer to us
again. The song has a plain awesome background and one of the best
melodies I can think of.
Matt Land's vocals are still the best from
any male vocalist I can think of and this song is just, well I am gonna
use the adjective that should never be used: perfect. Another classic like
Fever The Night.
Rating : 10
18.High Level - Turn Your Love Around (Time)
This song starts with a very beautiful piano solo and the beat is
slowly added to the background making this song seem a bit like a movie
theme song or something like that. The song is pretty calm in the standard
of eurobeat and the vocals are really calm. The normal eurobeat energy
from the vocals is completely missing and the vocals are pretty crappy in
the end, with a different vocalist this song would've been better.
Rating : 8½
Final Words :
With a compilation like this you can't feel nothing but satisfied. An
awesomely high standard with all of the songs and multiple hits leave you
feeling really good with the album. The great part with this album is that
for some strange reason the male vocalists who generally don't please me
have succeeded in making very great songs and the women vocalists actually
lose to the men for the first time in eurobeat history.
